@Meso: 20-25 minutes is far for me and I'm used to driving a lot! I prefer to have my kids in the car less if possible so the closer one sounds like a no brainer in all ways!

@Meso: I see. Our daycare/preschool for the girls is like a 3 min drive so for me even a 10 min drive is "far"! I totally understand. And I guess if you really have no issue with the daycare that you think is causing the high turnover... I don't think I'd care that much as long as my kids gets the same teacher in one class. I wouldn't even know about the turnover rates at ours!

@snowjewelz: i preface this by saying, yes i know it's not that far and that i'm spoiled... i live 5 mins from work, the first preschool is 10 mins from home and 5 from work... the second is 20-25 mins from home and work.

at least every couple months, i get emails about staffing and hiring updates, it's for all the difference classes, so to be fair, it's not like the same class is having a new teacher. but with my older LO, the whole time she was in preschool, the only staffing updates were with the floaters.

A while like how far? Our school being closed to home is super important to us as me, DH and my mom all take turns picking up/dropping off. Plus I live in the NE and in winter time I just don't want anyone to drive far if there's no need. As for turnover rate, like they end up getting multiple teachers per school year?

@petitenoisette: thanks for your input! i was starting to think maybe i was being selfish and picking convenience over having teachers who stay longer and would develop a better bond with my LO.

My LOs current daycare has the same issue with high turnover but she is personally happy and I have been been mostly happy too with her teachers. We are moving her for preschool but only because she is currently going near to my work which is 40 minutes from our house. I would definitely not move her if it were the opposite. Close to home/work for sure.

Hi All, I'm having trouble choosing between two daycares/preschools. One preschool is closer to home/work, offers breakfast, lunch, and snacks, and my daughter is currently in the infant class and loves it, but there's a high turnover rate (not in her current infant class though).

The other preschool, which doesn't have a infant class is farther away and takes a while to get there because of traffic and there's only one way/road to get there, only offers snacks, and has a low turnover rate, i love all the teachers there, my older LO went to this preschool.

On one hand, with all these natural disasters happening around the world, i would like my kids to be closer to me. And being able to save time packing lunch and making breakfast in the morning would be great. But I'm not a fan of the turnover rate in the preschool classes.

Which one would you choose?
