@Mrs. High Heels: DS is short and skinny didn't think it was more for short and heavy. Dang it. Thanks for pointing that out and clarifying!

@Alivoo01: If he is small for his age, he most likely won't meet the 50 lb weight limit in booster mode. :( That is a big complaint about the seat. So basically, they have to be short and heavy to meet the recommended limits.

thanks so much for your feedback, everyone! keep it coming ;)!

@Mrs. High Heels: thank you for that info! i wasn't aware that diono's won't often last into the booster stage, especially for taller children. good to know.

@catgirl: thanks for the tips, super useful! i'll definitely look into those.

There really isn't a reason to buy a diono convertible seat for a child who is forward facing - you lose the rear facing function and diono generally provides a poor booster fit.

From your list I would definitely go with the Britax seats. But it doesn't seem like your kids need the high limits of the Britax so you could also look at the graco nautilus, graco tranzitions, or harmony defender. Those all make usable boosters

@Mrs. High Heels: I never thought about that! Thanks for sharing. DS is small for his age so maybe it'll work for him. Guess we'll see how DD grows. Thankfully, boosters are cheap so if he does outgrow it before that phase, I won't cringe too much.

Yea Ive also heard the Diono's aren't great for belt boosters no matter what the height really. Not so much height/weight limits, but because of the belt path.

We have the RXT and love it, but DD will outgrow it for booster mode (it won't work for most kids in booster mode). This isn't on your list, but we are most likely going to buy the Diono Monterey for her booster. If you want 5 pt harness that will grow into booster, I would go with the Frontier, at least for your younger son. Then you won't have to buy another seat later on.

@Alivoo01: that was my thought too when I initially got the RXT, but it won't work well as a booster for most kids bc of the high weight limit and low height limit... http://forums.thebump.com/discussion/9111449/diono-radian-rxt-as-a-booster

We have the RXT also and I love it! I bought one for each kid. Love that it's the last seat they'll need since it becomes a booster later on. I also like that it can fit 3 across.

I love the RXT. We looked at the Rainier too but it didn't look like it really added that many features and was a lot more expensive. I like how narrow the RXT is. Very comfy for LO as well compared to other convertibles we tried.

I don't have any experience with any of the other seats, but we have 4 Radian RXTs in our family, and will be buying another when my 6 month old outgrows her bucket seat.

hi guys, i need some help to decide which diono(s) to buy for my boys. We currently have a britax marathon (which will be passed on to their little sister who is growing out of her bucket seat) and another brand of carseat (which is expiring soon and not a great one).

there's a 15% off sale this month at our local store, so we're gonna bite the bullet and buy two for our older boys (2.5 and 4).

our boys are fairly tall (38"/35lbs and 44"/43lbs), and i think i'd like them to use the 5 pt harness for a bit longer before switching to the booster option.

we drive a six seat mazda 5.

i'd prefer to spend less (of course) but if it really makes a big difference we are ok to spend more.

we do air travel with the carseats about twice a year but we check them and we don't care much about weight etc. otherwise we don't usually need to install/reinstall them often.

thanks in advance for your help! :)

i was/am interested in the britax frontier as well, but $$$!!!

we are in canada, if anyone knows of any good deals right now...
