I was giving the Similac Advance and now give the Sam's Club Complete, which is the same nutritionally but is less than half the cost. She took it just fine

Thanks everyone. It's kind of good to realize that if she doesn't like one, I can try others, instead of just assuming that she hates all formula and I'm a failure because I can't pump enough.

@swurlygurl: Not criticizing you, but it is actually completely normal for babies to lose some of their birth weight and then gain it back later. It doesn't indicate a problem at all.
They are born with extra "brown fat" to get them through in the beginning so that they can lose some while you establish your supply without hurting them.
Even formula fed babies typically lose 5% or so of their birth weight before gaining it back, breastfed babies closer to 7%-10%.

My baby lost 10 ounces from her birth weight and then gained it back quite easily. Most babies do.

So please don't feel sad or guilty about EBFing her in the beginning - the weight loss did not hurt her at all, you didn't do anything wrong!

We tried Gerber Good Start but she wasn't fond of it. We moved to Up and Up Sensitive (the Target brand of Similac Sensitive) and that's what she's had since. She moved to only having that and no breastmilk around 7 months. We've never had issues with it.

I used Gerber Good Start. It was supposed to be a similar formulation as the European formula we used (also by Nestle) but either way, we had no issues. I liked it because I could find it at both the grocery and drug stores near me.

I started supplementing at 7-8 months. We finally gave in at 8 months when I could no longer handle pumping with a decreased output and LO's increased food needs. He was on Enfamil Infant until we switched to Up & Up Infant. He doesn't seem to notice the difference. It's about $10-15 cheaper than Enfamil and has a lighter texture too.

We supplemented from the beginning. First with similac since that's what the hospital gave. But they seemed constipated, so we tried enfamil, which was worse. They did well with gerber goodstart, so we stuck with that.

I had to start supplementing at 1 month when we found out that EBF had made her lose 7 oz from birth weight. :'(

We started with Enfamil newborn, and used that to supplement to 3 months.
At 3.5 months when I ran out of Enfamil NB samples I used some Enfamil Infant samples, then Similac samples (regular and sensitive stomach).
At 4 months we started buying Costco brand formula (1/2 - 1/3 the cost!).

My pediatrician said that she only recommends Enfamil NB (assuming it doesn't bother your baby) through 3 months because they are most current with research and development. When I asked her about switching after 3 months, she said that Enfamil sold their research to Costco, so Costco is now making formula as similar to Enfamil as possible, and that's what she would chose for her own kids if she had to.

ETA: I am *extremely* lucky that DD doesn't have a sensitive stomach and is taking anything I give her like a champ!

I started supplementing about a month after I went back to work (I went back at 12 weeks). We use Enfamil for Gas and Fussiness. I usually give blended bottles, but have also given LO straight formula as well when I needed to. I haven't noticed any changes. :)

ETA: Enfamil Gentlease for Gas and Fussiness

Baby is eating more and my pumping at work just isn't getting enough. We're going to have to start supplementing her bottles at day care. She's almost 5 months old. Any one start supplementing at this age? What changes did you see?

For all of you who supplement, which forumula do you use? How did you choose? Do you give blended formula and BM bottles, or just straight formula?
