@travelgirl1: i definitely thought of that, but another option is to keep it permanently since it is a nice comfy chair that we also put in our living room one day, so i don't want to count on selling it.

@Foodnerd81: i actually prefer softer mattresses, but i was a bit concerned that it would not be supportive enough....but the lumbar pillow seems to give the support i need.

@Charm54: hmm, that is something to think about. I wish i could find more reviews from real people on the como to see how it stands over time. the one in the store i went to was fine, but maybe it hasn't been there as long. Which store did you get yours from?

We have the Monte Grano with swivel base...it glides and reclines and is so awesome. We had a tough time deciding between it and the Como...it's definitely firmer than the Como but the recline is an awesome feature for MOTN wake ups and I felt it would hold its shape longer than the Como. The firmness is oddly extremely comfortable, especially when you've been sitting in it for a long time. The Como was super comfy but I noticed the demo cushion looked more worn down fron constant use and I didn't know how comfy all that cushioning would be for feedings, sleeping, etc

I don't think you can go wrong with any Monte chair though - they are all awesome! It was more $ than I wanted to spend, but it is infinitely better than the rocking chair we used with DD1 and its stylish enough that we will use it well beyond the baby years

This isn't exactly the same, but I had really liked a big soft cushy glider that we just didn't have room for. It was so soft and cushy. But, I realized as I sat in a bunch that while it felt good at first, the firmer ones actually were way better for my back (and I have a bad back). Kind of like a super soft mattress feels nice but a firm mattress is actually much better for me. With that in mind I sat in them all again and happened to like one of the cheapest chairs in the store.

But it's not wide enough for my toddler to sit next to me, only on my lap, and that definitely is a bummer. But she sits next to me on the couch all the time anyway.

I would get option 2, then sell it when you are done and make 50% back.

I'd get the most comfortable option! After all, you might be spending a lot of time in it! Or keep searching for something just as comfortable at a better price!

here are the gliders in question:

Option 1:
http://www.montedesign.net/modern_nursery_glider.html#.VhW0ivlViko

Option 2:
http://www.montedesign.net/modern-nursery-como-glider.html#.VhW0TPlViko

Both options are high quality, fantastic gliders. Here are the differences:

OPTION 1 (Monte Luca glider):
Pros:
- More firm, potentially better back support for nursing
- Comes in dark brown colour, so matches nursery furniture. And dark colour preferred in case of stains/spills
- I can get it for half price used (I went to see it in person today and it's in perfect condition - but I need to decide by tomorrow!)

Cons:
- Firmness makes it not as comfortable as option 2
- Seat not wide enough for LO1 (toddler) to sit beside me

OPTION 2 (Monte Como glider)
Pros:
- I basically fell in love in the store because it was so cushy and comfortable (comes with lumbar pillow that gives good back support, so does option 1)
- Seat an inch or so wider, just wide enough for my skinny toddler to sit next me as evidenced when we looking at in the store and i thought it was so nice...i feel like this lengthens the use i will get out of the chair if i can also do that when LO2 is a toddler

Cons:
- Can't find it used so price extremely high
- Comes only in lighter colours (though the sand colour i would choose is still really nice and the cushions are detachable and washable).

I know i clearly prefer Option 2. It is the price that is killing me....But I don't have to buy it now. I have another 4.5 months where i can keep seeing if a used one goes up for sale AND i can wait for Black Friday and Boxing Day and a baby show coming up next month to see if any deals are offered. I am sure no deal i find though would be 50% off like the used Option 1.

What happened was i went to a specialty baby store last week and looked at gliders. I knew they would be more than i wanted to pay, but i wanted to see and compare with others i had seen as i hadn't fallen in love with any yet. I was tired so i sat down in one and marveled at it's comfort. Definitely the most comfy one i had sat in thus far and i noticed the pillow gave my back good support. What also amazed me was how LO kept running and grabbing books in the store and then came and sat next to me with them to read to him and i thought "what an awesome chair that we can sit together like this". So those were the two features i liked best (comfort and width). I went home and googled the designer and got confused and thought i found it for sale used. I went to see the used one today and as soon as i sat it in it, i knew it was not the one i fell in love with in the store....but all week i had been reading awesome reviews on the used one. I went back to the original store and saw both gliders side by side (which explains why i mixed them up online).

What would you do? Get option 1 now for an awesome price & darker colour, but not the one you fell in love with? Or wait it out the next few months and see if you can get the one you love on sale or used? And also continue to look at other gliders and potentially give in to a splurge if it doesn't go on sale or find a used one.
