We splurged and had a Trip Trap for DS1, but we lost a few screws somehow and it was no longer safe for DS2 (he weighed 36 lbs at a year). We got a Fisher Pricebooster seat, but he managed to push against the dining table and fall backwards so we stopped using that. </p> <p>Now we use a restaurant style high chair. It’s super sturdy and easy to clean. We actually sat her in the chair before that just to let her play while we eat too and it was fine. You can always stuff a towel or a cushion behind/around her for a week or 2 until she's solid enough to sit by herself. I went with the Joovy because it was cheaper. DS was never a big fan of it because he hated high chairs in general. But I just looked back and at 7 months I had him sitting in the Lobster chair at the island... We kept all our baby stuff from DD1 (they're 3 years apart) but sold/gave away the high chair because it was SO annoying/impossible to clean. The Ikea one is so much better! We've been using it 8+ months now and we do baby-led weaning so it gets MESSY. I would never get a chair without wheels again. Other bonuses: easy to wipe clean cover that’s also easy to remove, lay flat tray, it has a tray on top of the tray (does that make sense?) so you don’t have to was the whole tray—just the cover, AND the tray hangs on the back of the chair which seems little but was a HUGE help. The swing out tray is really nice and that is my favorite thing. But now that my son has started more self feeding and making more of a mess, I’ve found it difficult and annoying to clean. The pleather is wipeable but there are a lot of seams and the thread and edging get stained. It’s hard to get all of the food out of the nooks and crannies of the seat bottom. There are lots of areas on the plastic where the tray attaches that get gross. The Nook is super easy to fold and has a swing out tray, while the Seedling has wheels. We've never used a standalone high chair - which would you buy?
