Laundry basket == makeshift walker for the littles; boat/rocket/etc for the toddler/preschool ages

Broom == they just sweep with it. We even have a good mini kids version, and they both fight over the adult-sized one.

Round brush == for some reason, both of my girls are convinced this is a play "trumpet" and walk around pretending to play!

My son uses his solid surface diaper changing pad (like a keekaroo peanut) as a race track for his hotwheels cars.

He uses a baster and a silicone basting brush in the tub, along with plastic coffee cans as buckets.

I've made sponges into sponge bombs for the pool.

Flyswatter and a mini kickball. Way better than the traditional hard plastic golf set when he hits something/someone.

If you go to Costco for paper towels....you just bought your kid hours worth of fun!LO opened up our case of individually wrapped paper towels and has been having a blast building, knocking down and imagining worlds of fun with this. Unconventional 'toys' are often more fun than store bought.

Another good one when LO was much younger was to turn a strainer upside down and put pipe cleaners or pasta in the holes.

Then there are boxes. Anything and everything goes. The most memorable was when LO turned it into a mural and DH turned into a car.
