Haha. Both of our names are in the top 15. How boring. I took his last name and only fell a couple spots... Sadly I'm not in top 10 anymore.

I absolutely love my married name. It's much catchier and I feel like it makes it easier for people to remember me. My maiden name was pretty boring.

Both my maiden name and my married name are very well known and common. So I can't say either of them is interesting. It's really like switching Smith for Jones or vice versa.

Married #3

I never changed my name, so my maiden name is my married name :) It is ranked #166, so not too popular but not terribly uncommon. Easy to pronounce!

DH's name is #5686. Not very common here, but a popular surname in Latin America. Again, easy to pronounce, easy to spell. Our kids will have it easy, ha.

@mediagirl: I have the same problem and it drives me crazy! I can't fit "The ABCS Family" on a doormat or return address stamp.

I loved my maiden name and liked how well it went with my first name. My married name is fine, but not as awesome. :)

I liked my maiden name better. My DH is Asian and I'm white so I don't feel my married name fits me. We've been married 2 years and I'm finally starting to get used to my married name. I kind of wish I would have just kept my maiden name.

my maiden name is much easier to say, and way more common. It's in the top 100 on that website. My married name is harder to pronounce (everyone gets it wrong), and it's fairly uncommon... it's in the 14,000 range.

I kept my last name because it's way cooler than DH's last name. The nurse at my drs appointment today said 'oh, wow that's a great last name'. Wasn't getting rid of that one, though random Italians want to be facebook friends because we share a common last name that's not even that common in Italy.

My maiden name is uncommon and hard to pronounce and spell. When I married my first husband, I was grateful for a more common name, and when we divorced, I kept the name (more for ds's sake). My now married name is even better, not just cause I'm biased, but it's less common than my former married name, but more common than my maiden name.

In 2000, maiden name was ranked #115845.

Married name ranked #2290 & only searched 7 times.

My first name is about as unique in popularity as it gets so I'm fine with either surname.

my maiden name is apparently way less common (searched 55 times v. 760 times!) but growing up, i knew a ton of people with my maiden name, and i've never met anyone outside DH's family with my married name. so weird!

as for preference, i THINK i prefer my married name, because it sounds nice with my first name. But, it is a common first name, and people often get confused. That will also make it a little harder with baby names.

My husband's last name sounds and looks nice enough, but it is spelled differently than it's pronounced, because it's not english, and that's extremely annoying to me. My maiden name is in the top 10 most popular surnames in the US and everyone knows how to spell it.
