I think girls are easier. With DS I've always thought pretty heavily that I'm in charge of raising a good MAN in a culture where it's obvious there are few! That's always seemed alot harder to me than raising a girl to be a fulfilled and great woman. Now that we have P, even though she's still only an infant and has been more on the high needs side, I still feel that way.

I think it totally depends on the kid, but this is just from my observations of my 8 nieces and nephews, not from my own kid (since I just have one on the way!).

My second sister's kids (girl first, then boy), were very different. Her first, the girl, was a very easy baby and is still an easy kid in 6th grade--good grades, never a behavior problem, big reader. Her second, the boy, was an extremely fussy baby who had terrible sleeping problems till he was 3. Now, he's 6 and CRAZY ENERGETIC, bouncing off the walls. I wouldn't call him a behavior problem, but he wears me out when I babysit.

My husband's niece and nephew are exactly the opposite. The boy was the easy baby at now at 5 is so content just sitting and playing quietly. The girl was a fussy baby and is super energetic at 3 years old. She was jumping off the couch on to the floor--and she's three! He was looking at math flash cards quietly by himself at the same time. So different!

I always hear girls are easier in the early toddler years, and then boys are easier the rest of the time lol.

I have an almost three year old girl and an almost one year old boy, and I get this question all the time! Which one is easier, the boy or girl? I never know how to answer, because I don't know how much of taking care of them is their personality and how much is their gender. So I always say, they are different....

How do you respond?
