The display got sort of messed up when it dropped too but still usable. I just replaced it with the Motorola thus weekend. Comes in so handy for keeping an eye on them. Since we have twins, we have two cameras and I like how we were able to pair them to rotate views on the same monitor. It is about $60-$100 less than the other, more popular, models. But it works great for us. Our home is about 1900sqft and we never have interference or signal problems. It is ridiculously easy to set up - you literally plug it in and go - so we actually bring it with us when we travel! Phillips AVENT DECT ones are great. It is hard to set up though so I would only recommend if you are tech savvy -- or know someone who is! And yes, you NEED a baby monitor. We live in a ONE bedroom and I didn't think I needed one and went six months without. Once LO was getting more mobile in her crib I wanted to see what she's doing in there! It's a MUST HAVE. We live in a large two bedroom apartment, and my mom swears up and down I don't need a monitor, but I'm not convinced. If I'm in the kitchen (and I do spend a lot of time in the kitchen), I wouldn't be able to hear baby from her room unless she was screaming, for example. Thoughts? Recommendations? Models to stay away from? </p>
