My OB didn't care about the actual prenatal for TTC. She said all she cared about was at least 400mg Folic Acid, but 800 was better, and 1000mg of DHA. So I take the one a day prenatals + DHA + another fish oil supplement to get me above 1000.

I took Prenate Elite and when we switched insurance it started costing us 4x more for the same prenatal vitamins! So I asked my OB's office and they said any brand should be fine and suggested Target's brand. After I started my second trimester I started taking Nature's Way with DHA and have been taking it since.

I use the Target brand gummies, and a folic acid that my dr recommended starting.

As far as I know, the only thing you really need to take is folic acid, everything else is pretty optional unless you have some deficiency.

During the TTC months, I bought the Nature Made vitamins at Costco (like @c.sassy). After I got pregnant, I got RX prenatals.

A lot of vitamins made me sick, the ones that work best for me were trader Joe's prenatals plus their DHA

My OB said that Rx and store bought pre-natals are the same. Just look for one with DHA and that doesn't give you stomach problems. I take Nature Made because I can buy a huge bottle at Costco.

I just take a folic acid supplement. When I get pregnant I plan to ask my doctor what she recommends.

Drop the regular vitamin. I couldnt handle any Rx prenatals-they all made me throw up. So I kept taking the Trader Joe's ones or the GNC ones that I took while TTC and my OB said they were fine.

My doctor told me that any multi vitamin will basically do as long as it has folic acid and said that's really the only supplement you have to focus on. She ended writing me a prescription for prenatals that has 800mg of folic acid instead of the 400mg that regular multi vitamins typically have, and I went with the prescription G12's since it was cheaper.

My doc is fine with the cheapest prenatal vitamin. I take it instead of my usual women's daily multi-vitamin and still take a fish oil capsule. She says that as long as it meets my folic acid needs and that I can stomach them that the brands are effectively the same.

Yes, you drop the other vitamins when you start the prenatals. The only thing I take in addition to my prenatal is a fish oil capsule each day.

I like Trader Joe's prenatal vitamins - I tried them because I read a lot of reviews that they were gentle on the stomach, and I haven't had any problems with them so I've stuck with it.

You would stop the multi, but I take the VitaFusion gummies (i buy them on Amazon--cheaper...) along with the calcium chews and an extra folic acid.

There are so many options! I was in target last night completely and utterly overwhelmed at what to buy so i just left the store until could post to the all knowing hive.

I just stopped taking the pill and we're going to wait 1 cycle before actively TTC. As soon as "period" starts i'll be starting to chart and doc recommended starting to take prenatals. I currently take a Multi, Calcium, and Folic Acid.

So do i just get the big bottle of standard "prenatals"? the gummi's? the combo pack with DHA? does store brand matter?

then i stop taking my multi, calcium and folic right? it should all be in there....
