I had a PISA and didn't have any issues. It worked great for 10 months of exclusive pumping. I get to get a new one this time too, and I think since I still have the PISA I am going to get the Freemie this time. Still need to do a little more research, but I have heard good things about it!

@wonderstruck: ahh, I see. That's good to know, since I don't think I've had to bend over very often while pumping so I'd never have thought of it!

@PurplePeony: It never happened to me with L, but now that I have two of them I can't always just sit there while pumping, and latest seems to be what causes the problem - I bend over for something toddler related (which happens all the time) and no matter how careful try to be, I end up with milk in the tubes or leaking all over my leg.

I have the Hygeia and I really like it - I haven't had any issues at all. And the Hygeia is recommended by La Leche League .

Hygeia is also closed.

Freemie is very popular because it has cups instead of flanges - they fint inside your bra and make it a much more portable system!

I've only ever used a Medela PISA and a Medela Freestyle. I preferred the Freestyle, but if I were to get another free pump I would go with the Freemie for sure. Seems so convenient to pump without giant horns sticking out of your chest.

@regberadaisy: @wonderstruck: I'm surprised you ladies have such trouble with milk getting into the tubes, it hasn't happened to me a single time and DD just turned one! Luck, I guess?

I'm only familiar with the Medela and Ameda. I used to feel like I liked the Medela better, but now that I'm on kid #2 that has flipped for one big reason; the Medela has an open system with the tubes, whereas the Ameda is closed. Words cannot express how frustrating it is to not be able to lean/bend while pumping because milk flows into the tubes and I have to stop what I'm doing, pop off the faceplate to clean behind it, wash and dry the tubes, etc.

I have the PISA and like it so far (I've been using it for 4 weeks). I am on leave so not using it at work yet, but for home it's fine. I like that all of the parts are interchangeable with all kinds of random bottles (I'm using glass Lifefactory bottles and they work well with it). There are definitely a lot of bits and pieces to clean/sterilize, but as I've never had another pump I have no basis for comparison!

@MrsTal: I used the Ameda when I pumped at work for DD 1. I used that 2-3x a day for 11 months. It did well by me. Towards the end my output really started tanking and I'm not sure if it was me or the pump going?

This time I'm using the Medela PISA and I really like it as well. I have a lot more output this time but I also think my supply is better. My only complaint about the Pisa is that the tubes get milk into them easily. I never had that issue with the Ameda!

Both pumps work with Ameda bottles and Dr brown as well.

Do you have to buy it at a local medical provider? Even though my insurance covered alll double pumps I had to buy locally. And locally there's only one provider and they had Ameda or Medela.

These are the same 4 I have to choose from. I think I will be going with the hygeia or feeemie. I can't decide! Lol

I've used the Medela and the Ameda. I vote the medela hands down, my ameda never worked correctly and I've talked to several other women who had the same issue.

I also have a 3 year old PISA that still works great and the new one I got that worked pumping at work for a year. I intend to use both for baby 2.

ETA: I've never had the milk in tubes issue.

I have a Hygeia Q, which isn't a well known brand. It has lasted me 11 months of exclusive pumping, and is still going. Plus, it fits Medela parts.
