I also am borrowing a friends' Medela pump in style (so I have one at work and one at home). I like the Ameda because it's more portable, easier to travel with, and easier to clean (can't get moisture in the tubing). Also, I bought bigger flanges, etc on amazon so I had no problem getting spare parts. </p> <p>Ultimately I think the PIS is a little more powerful though. Not sure about the medela pump you mentioned. The only extras i bought for the ameda were another set of flanges, and an extra set of valves and diaphragms. However, you already have the extra parts for the medela so that's a plus. Although any narrow neck bottle fits onto the ameda so you wouldn't need anymore bottles.
