I think it was probably because they were more into my parents' business lol...they had no problem coming over to our house at any time and taking me home with them to stay for a weekend (grandma and aunt especially). My mom's family is just more reserved and I feel that my grandma (mom's mom) was hurt when I was young that she didn't get to see me more/wasn't the "favorite" grandma. :(</p> <p>Now that I'm an adult I spend a lot more quality time with my mom's family than I did as a child, and I'm so glad. I am real close with my aunts and grandparents.</p> <p>my moms side is so broken with substance abuse, criminal histories/activities, divorce, lies, hate, etc. It's not a healthy family. And after my grandma died, everyone fell apart. But we're not very friendly with my aunt. She's not nice to my family, and I'm not sure how often we'll see her after my grandma isn't here anymore. I guess part of it was because a huge percentage of her family (our grandparents/uncles/aunts/cousins) lives on the same street. My parents moved there a few years ago but when I was growing up we only lived 20 minutes from all of them.
