My lo is 18 months and 28lb and tall. I switch between the two Tulas depending on how I am feeling. The baby one is smaller and easier to stuff under the stroller and I find it more comfortable if we are sitting down. I prefer the toddler one on my back. Lo1 so clearly out grew the baby one at a very young age I am surprised I am still using the little one this time around.

My kids could go into either for several months, safely and comfortable. So just try them right before the trip and go with your gut!

My daughter refused to go in our toddler Tula until she was a little bigger, so I would see if your kiddo will go in the toddler one and if they seem comfortable.

Thanks everyone! I need to break them both out again to compare with her, it's been a few weeks and she's gotten taller since. I found this site after I posted though which has lots of pics: https://www.carrymeaway.com/learncenter/which-size-tula-should-i-buy-standard-vs-toddler-tula-carriers/ it makes me think the standard is prob best still!

I'd lean towards the standard for a little while.

Do her legs fit in the toddler? She should be able to bend her legs freely. If she fits in the toddler I'd go with which she seems most comfortable in. If she's comfy in the standard I'd just take that

I would probably go with standard actually rereading your post. She’ll want to look around and you said she naps in it well enough :)

It’s all about her comfort! Do her legs really fit in the toddler? Then I would go with that. My son was all about arms out in our standard and it drove me crazy he looked so uncomfortable.

This is a super specific question, but thought I'd try anyway! We have both an infant and toddler tula, and lo2 is riiiight in between the sizes I think, and I'm not sure which is better to use! We're about to travel for a weeklong vacation and will be using it on transatlantic flights and then on and off while sightseeing (we're bringing a stroller too, but she'll be sharing it with lo1)

I feel like she's slightly too big/tall for the baby carrier--she pops her arms out of the top and tries to climb out, though she can nap in it well...

But the toddler one still seems like it's a bit big/will swallow her up...but maybe that's okay?? She's just below the cusp on the minimum height/weight
