So crowded and touristy and humid, and if it's Italy there's not even AC indoors anywhere (though maybe that's changed in the last 10 years). </p> <p>Plus you've never been to Alaska, it's cheaper by half, and still offers a ton of fun excursions. You're comparing apples to oranges. Are you and DH hoping to go on a getaway sans baby for the first time in a while? Or is your hope the first family vacation? Is a budget trip important or are you ready to splurge since you've been saving for a while? Do you want a laid back natural beauty kind of trip (Alaska) or do you want to do it all and see lots of history (Europe). Are you and DH on the same page about what your summer vacation priorities are? This is hard. Your European cruise sounds fabulous! I will say that it might be best to go back to Europe when you have the chance to maybe see more of the places you'll visit? Rome for 1.5 days is not enough. I guess to make a choice, I think I'd have to do it from my perspective. While my in-laws are great, they could not handle LO for a week. We have traveled with her, and while hard at times, it can be rewarding in its own way. I just told DH about your post, and he says go to Europe. Go figure! Even my super boring father in law was bored. My vote goes for Europe. Plus I think you'll get much more out of your vacation if you leave your LO with the grandparents. It was AH-mazing- weather was beautiful, excursions fun, not crazy crowded. My husband went on a European cruise with his family in 2010 and he prefers the Alaskan because he says there's too much to do in those places and it felt a little chaotic.
