I voted toddlers. I had easy infants but now those infants are both toddlers and they are so difficult and stubborn. I'd take infancy back any day!

Honestly it's not as bad as I expected. There are days I want to pull my hair out, but we had an easy baby and a fairly easy toddler. I'm still waiting for the other shoe to drop.

I think toddlers require more work and patience.

I think both for different reasons. My first was a super easy infant and is now such a challenge as a toddler. My second is a very high maintenance infant and mix that with a crazy toddler...oy....

Infancy by a mile.

Man everything before 3 was just way easier.3 year olds are a ton of fun, but such bloody hard work.

I voted infancy but it peaked and rapidly improved at 14 months. Month 14 was hell...

Infant! Holy freaking bleep bleep bleep. It was horrible for the first 6 months, hardly bearable for the first year, and slightly better until she turned 2, when the magic happened! Love toddlerhood!

Infancy by a long shot! We thankfully didn't really have any feeding issues, no real health issues, not even a spitter upper, but she was just really fussy for the first 3-4 months, and it was really really hard trying to figure out what to do. I still at least felt able to bond with her but that was harder for DH.

She is only 2 and a bit, and of course she can drive me insane, but the communicating her wants or needs is huge, and just generally being able to really interact and play is so awesome. I would say 2 is my favorite age so far (but don't get me wrong- she can drive me insane still).

My infant is only 8 weeks old, but My 3 y/o is way more challenging at this point. The baby is easy (besides the no sleep).

For DH, infancy. For me, toddlerhood. I find him so much more challenging now (so many tantrums!!!) and DH had trouble really feeling "into" it all when he was a baby and couldn't talk.

Eta I think the easiest was 1-2. 2+ has been very hard.

Infancy, for sure. We had loads of breastfeeding issues. His sleep was terrible. I was overwhelmed ALL the time. Nothing ever felt like it was right or falling into place.

As a toddler, I feel far more relaxed. He can communicate what he wants and needs very well and the general feeling we all have is that it's "just right". I don't know how else to explain it.

Toddlerhood for sure. It was really parenting for us (instead of just attending to basic baby needs which seems more more straight forward) and DH struggles with the patience factor when DD1 loses it.

@Oxana: So much in common! My LO was a major spitter upper too.

I'm right there with you. I had to exclusively pump for 9 months (couldn't quite make it to a year--I salute you!), and LO had really bad acid reflux (she'd throw up an average of 3 ounces at every feeding). I was recovering from a c/s, and a month after giving birth, I had to have two cavities filled and a root canal.

LO is about 2 years old, so I know we still have more toddler years ahead of us, but so far it's been pretty smooth sailing. I felt kind of alien to an infant, because we really couldn't communicate at all. I love having that connection with LO now that she's older, both because I can be more affectionate and because I can draw clear boundaries and dole out consequences when she crosses them.

DH and I both struggled with having an infant. Neither of us are very touchy-feely people, so the constant holding and soothing was very draining for both of us. Breastfeeding/pumping was also a major challenge for me and while I'm proud to have made it for the full first year, that was the hardest year of my life, hands down.

We both enjoy having a toddler more. We love being able to communicate with her and meet her needs. DH also seems like he's able to connect with her more and have fun with her as opposed to when she was in infant.
