Henry John. I have a cousin whose parents call him by his middle name and he was always asking them why they didn't just make that his first name if it's what they intended to call him (it was a family name thing.) He ended up changing it once he turned 18 because he was so sick of correcting teachers/professors and having confusion in general about how his name showed up on legal documents/work e-mails/class rosters versus what he actually went by.

@makemake: I think this is my problem. I refer to DS1 as his first and middle name ALL THE TIME.

@reyorra: I thought about the initals as well BUT if we're talking monogram it would be HMJ.

@Kimberlybee: I like your thinking.

So the reason why I like Henry is because it's similar to my Maiden name, and John because it's both of our paternal grandfather's names. We're big on family names (DS1's first name is after DH's father's first name, and his middle name is My father's first name.)

I like Henry John because you want to call him Henry. I have a lot of students this year who go by their preferred middle name, but on all their official documents (ids, paperwork, class rosters, grade books) it lists their "real" name. It causes a lot of confusion/miscommunication on our end, which leads to frustration on theirs.

I voted for John Henry because I think it flows better and I also have a weird thing about initials flowing together. I like JHM better than HJM because I feel the J in the middle creates a strange empty space...I guess that's the graphic designer in me.

I really wanted to vote for cake though for what it's worth...
