I agree w/doing the toddler sleep training first, bc 2.5yo is old enough and 4mo may not be. Plus you need the crib for the baby. I don't think you'll want to sleep train and then have to crib train separately.

@Cchoi4: I would do the toddler bed + toddler fall asleep on his own training first. I think at 2.5 your first is old enough to understand that he needs to fall asleep on his own and stay in his room/bed..? I used to stay with DD until she fell asleep in her floor bed, but once the baby came it was just too much for me to handle. Especially since I was solo parenting a couple days a week.
When she was around 22 months old we "trained" her to fall asleep on her own. It took a few days and she cried in the beginning, but bedtime is SO EASY now. We take her to her room, pray, tuck her in and tell her we love her, good night and see you in the morning! We walk out and close the door behind us.

If your baby is going through a regression I would wait on sleep training until you get your toddler zzz on his own and in a big boy bed.

Good luck!

I would sleep train the baby in the travel crib first since the baby is causing you more sleep disruptions. But wait out the sleep regression first. Maybe you won't have to do anything. Then you can do the other transitions starting with your toddler.

Toddler boy is a little over 2.5 years and is still in his crib. He has never been a great "fall a sleeper" and DH and I are worried that transitioning him will mean endless hours of walking him back to his new bed OR staying in his room until he finally falls asleep (we do this now and it takes an hour but are afraid it will take longer if he has free reign of the room).

Baby boy is 4 months and is sleeping in an adjacement room in a travel crib. We must be going through a sleep regression bc he is waking 3xs a night to nurse. He doesn't know how to fall asleep on his own yet so i'd like to start some training at the appropriate time, with the crib that toddler boy is currently in.

So the question become: which should we do first? I'm so confused. DH has a week of vacation coming up in a month...should we do both then or is that just asking for disaster?
