We also have a soft-structured carrier, the Infantino Flip from Walmart. The style of carrier is fantastic, but I know that particular brand isn't ergonomic or very supportive. Probably user error, but she never felt secure and I ended up returning it. </p> <p>Moby saved my life. It was a little cumbersome to tie at first but I quickly got very good at it, since many many days it was the only way to get C to sleep. We wore that thing every day for hours. But it was only really great up to about 3 months, after that I felt like it stretched out a little and I got tired of tying it. </p> <p>Beco Gemini-love. It's super easy to get on and c and I are both very comfortable. Like that you can cross the straps in the back- comfie and easier to put on, like that I have te option of face forward (which is frowned upon I know but I still wanted the option. We only did it once and I wasn't a fan but I could see using t on occasion in the future). Dislike that there is no pocket at all and that it's sort of bulky with long straps so carrying around when you aren't wearing it is annoying (but most carriers are prob like that). Disclaimer- c is only 6 mos, 16 lbs, and I've only ever done front carries. I don't like having baby's weight all on one side of my body.<br /> Mei tai - love it. So, so comfy. A nice compromise between woven wraps and structured carriers<br /> Woven wraps - I'm an addict. Super versatile, super comfy. The only con to me is the bit of a learning curve, but anyone can learn it with a little practice. I have scoliosis though and my back hurts easily. Most people love them.</p> <p>Tula- Love it! I can wear DS (who is a big baby) for hours at a time with no back pain. Much more comfortable for me than the Ergo.</p> <p>Ring Sling- I liked it when he was an infant but was too hard on my back when he got bigger. I should try it again but it just seems like it would be so hard in the parking lot to get it on nicely. Especially as it's winter and I try to be quick.</p> <p>I had a Baby Borjn active mesh carrier which was recommended by a friend. I didn't know of all these other carriers so I got it. HATED it. It was fine ( manageable) for a short walk when she was first born and didn't weigh much. It made my shoulders hurt soooo bad. </p> <p>I got an Olive and Applesauce ( similar to Tulas ) and I love it. I use it every single day for a minimum of 45 mins and up to a few hours. It's very comfortable for me and baby. It has a great seat. It has a pocket, a cover, a built in infant insert. You can use it front/back/and hip and you can breastfeed in it. ( how you breastfeed and walk I dunno.. but you can haha.)</p> <p>I'm looking at getting a Tula just because I use the carrier every day and want to change it up sometimes. I was also considering a ring sling but I think I need something with more structure/support. Awesome for the first three or four months. Isn't sized so it can be used by both you and your SO. A little complicated to learn but once you figure it out it's pretty easy.</p> <p>- K'Tan. An easier, less complicated version of the moby, kind of. Sized so you and SO probably can't share. Also awesome for the early days. I loved my ktan.</p> <p>- Ergo. Not so awesome for the teeny babies, in my opinion, but FANTASTIC for older babies. Very comfortable, easy to use, adjustable so you and SO can share. I loved the K'tan for the first four months but you buy the K'tan sized for the adult and it was too small for DH. He used the moby a few times at that age. DH switched to the Bjorn when LO had head control. I wore it once and hated it. I moved on to the Ergo. I still use it daily at 1 year. Just about a month ago I got DH to try the Ergo again and he loved it. Both grandpas have worn it too. I love that it has a pocket. Super comfy and I wear her all the time. The one bad thing is that if she falls asleep in it, you can't put her down without waking her. I've heard you can with a mei tai. Definitely find a babywearers group. My city has one where you can rent carriers for a month ($5) to see which one you like. Overall I prefer my RSs because they're so "popable" and fit easily into my bag. My favorites are wrap conversions from Sleeping Baby Productions. My favorite SSC so far is Tula. I'm looking for the perfect mei tai, but I've tried several that I like. </p> <p>It is super overwhelming at first. The best advice I can give is to try whatever carrier is appealing to you and is in your price range. No one carrier works for everyone. It also may be helpful to attend a local babywearing meeting or class to see various options side by side. Good luck!</p> <p>ETA: LO is 21 months, and I wear her on occasion, but we mostly stopped around 15-16 months. I hated the Bjorn so so so much - all the weight was on my shoulders, hence the Ergo. We loved the k'tan and used it all the time when LO was a newborn. Around 4-5 months, it started getting too stretched out during extended wear (it would shrink up again, but I had to wash it all the time) and it started to become less comfortable for me. I bought the Gemini at that time and am still using it at 14 months. I love that you can cross the straps, and I liked that it was less bulky than the Ergo I tried. I found a Maya wrap still in the packaging for $5 at a church garage sale and couldn't resist the deal. DD was around 9 months at the time. I like how portable it is and we do still use it, but I find that all of her weight on one shoulder gets uncomfortable pretty quickly now that she's so heavy. If you can, I'd try to find a local baby wearing group or store where you can see which carriers fit you well and make you feel comfortable.
