I think dried spit up. Dd has ruptured her eardrum and it was a darker colored fluid around her ear.

If lo is acting normal I'd think it's milk/spit up too. Worst case scenario, lo starts spiking a high fever in the middle of the night, you call. I've had to call several times this year, it sucks, and I feel terrible, but it is what it is.

My LO wakes up with dried milk in her ears most mornings. We cosleep and I don't turn on the light or pick her up to feed her, and I miss her mouth some. Looks like that. So my vote is spit up.

Looks like ear wax to me. Maybe dried milk that ran down his face if he was laying down with a bottle? Or spit up he rolled in? Regardless, wouldn't be something I'd give a second thought to or call the Ped over. Oozing would be a different story.

If it was oozing it could be an ear infection and burst ear drum, but that is highly unlikely if he is acting fine. I would wipe it out and not worry a bit! :)

Thanks ladies. I don't think it's ear wax, different consistency. I think it's probably milk. It's just never happened before. But he's never been at daycare before either, so I'm guessing he spit up and they just didn't get it all? Or it somehow go in there while he was getting a bottle?

My 7 week old gets this- I assume it's dried spit up or ear wax or some combination and just wipe it out while I'm nursing. I wouldn't be too worried. Maybe call the ped during office hours if you are worried though.

I would just ask daycare in the morning. Looks like dried milk or just ear wax?

Okay. We just saw that my 4 mo son has a ton of white gunk in one ear (originally about double what's in the picture). It's all dry and flaky and crumbles as I swipe my finger. He's acting normally, eating normally, no fever, no ear pulling, no recent illness.

We did recently start going to daycare, where he was today. They didn't say anything about it but maybe spit up or milk?

Call ped tonight? Wait and call ped in the morning? Ask daycare in the morning? Not worry about it, if he continues to act normally? Go to urgent care?
