I leave it on all night; DD has a fan in her room, and we use a cool mist humidifer with DS.

In the day I use the gentle giraffe (like the sleep sheep) and yes, I go reset it before it shuts off! At night we use the white noise app on an old iPhone and we start it before DS goes to sleep and it stays on all night. We use the ocean waves track although I have read that actual white noise is the best.

We had a white noise machine that used to turn off after an hour, I would always wake up when it stopped! Now I have an app on my phone (I think it's called sleep machine, you can make your own sounds and adjust the level of each sound and the volume- love it!) and leave it going until it's time to wake up. I sleep much better, so I would assume it would be the same for a LO. I guess my answer is: once we have a LO, my plan is use continuous white noise.

We just got the ecotones sound machine. Oh my goodness, it's like the rolls Royce of white noise. We're going to do it all night tonight, but there is a 120 minute option.

We used to use a Sleep Sheep that shut off after 45 minutes, when he would be transitioning sleep cycles = NO GOOD. Now we use an iPod + speaker dock with an ocean sounds track on repeat all night. Much much much better.

We have a sleep sheep but it wasn't loud enough. DH downloaded some white noise tracks on iTunes, burned it to a cd and we just plugged in an old cd player in her room and put it on repeat! Working great so far

We use a fan for white noise because I read that air circulation helps reduce the risk of sids. We leave it on when she sleeps. Plus, it drowns out noise so she's less likely to wake up and she wakes up randomly in the middle of the night and gets herself back to sleep, I feel like the white noise helps with that.

yeah I like the idea of keeping it on at night atleast til she is deep asleep. My baby sleeps very lightly for the first 30-1hr and randomly switches back to that light sleep. So I think I will keep it on all night

We use the sleep sheep. It shuts off after 45 minutes. Sometimes I turn it on again in the night if I hear her starting to wake up.

For those of you that play white noise for your babies, do you turn it off after they fall asleep or do you leave it on all night?
