When we started dating I made more but he's gotten promotions and raises and I haven't. So at the moment he makes about 1/3 more than I do. Add to that the fact that I have insane law school loans that we pay back, and that he carries all of our health benefits--- and he definitely got the short end of the marital money stick. Plus he's in school now for his MBA so once he gets that he'll prob be making even more. </p> <p>Honestly, we're both happy with the way things are. Obviously we wish I had less loans and that I made more-- who wouldn't? But I don't feel badly about it. I'm so happy for my DH that he has found a job he likes, that values him and rewards him for his hard work. And we're both grateful that he has the more lucrative and promising job because he actually loves his work and I hate mine. But I'm a contract employee, which means I get a higher rate of pay but no benefits. No vacation time, no health insurance, no 401k. DH makes less, but has all the benefits and contributes about 20% to his 401k. When I switch to being a full employee, I'll probably make about 10K more than him. My DH is a full time PhD student and the work that he does (as a TA and recording tech) barely covers his school expenses. He simply doesn't have time to work on top of that. We have been very, very lucky, however, that he has gotten huge scholarships for both his masters and PhD so we have to pay only a few thousand each year for tuition.
