Totally agree. Stable marriage=stable home life. Sure, sometimes your kid's needs will come first, but you need a strong foundation.

I agree with that reasoning, and have used it in counseling sessions before - I've seen so many parents who put LO even before themselves, and it ends badly.

but.

I have to say...there's nothing I wouldn't do for my DD. If I had to choose between myself or her (something important, not like - who gets attention first) I would choose her in a heartbeat. Tough decision!

I completely agree with you! SO has to come first in order to give LO a happy home :)

Giuliana Rancic is in the news today for her statements that her husband, Bill comes first and then their baby, Duke. Apparently a couple of mom bloggers took serious offense to this.

http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/lifestyle/2013/03/giuliana-rancic-puts-marriage-first-child-second/

Personally, I think that one of the best things we can do for our LOs is to have a happy and healthy marriage. While I don't think it necessarily has to be a competition I do see how if you are constantly putting your children ahead of your SO it is a recipe for disaster, aka d-i-v-o-r-c-e.

So who comes first, SO or LO?
