Awwww! Poor hubs!!! :( When my grandma (who has passed on) started to slip in her cooking, I think that was the big sign...you know? :(

I make ONE recipe that used boxed mashed potatoes. When my husband discovered that he flipped a d refused to eat them. His grandma has always made hand mashed potatoes but is getting older and doesn't cook as much. We were up there for lunch and she made roast beef and handed my husband a cup of microwave instant potatoes and told him to stir. I thought he was going to cry.

@eeh: OMG growing up we always had the mashed potatoes from a box! DH didn't know it was even an option. I'm much more old school these days...

On my mom's side it's always my mom and/or me. She's out of town this year so it's all me. We wouldn't eat anything prepared by most of the relatives. My aunt claims to have a home ec degree honestly didn't know you could make mashed potatoes that didn't come from a box!! Dad's side is usually pot luck and we alternate hosting. It's at my house tomorrow.

Husband's family: his mom is a great cook and always does Thanksgiving. I insist on bringing something because that's how I was raised. His grandma does Christmas,

My parents and my in-laws are divorced, that makes our holiday season very busy/stressful. We started hosting Thanksgiving when we bought our house 6 years ago, I'm a pretty darn good cook (I don't have all that many skills, so I don't mind gloating lol) so I prefer to just cook myself and have others bring things like a relish tray and wine.

Christmas we've always done at our parents' homes. My mom is a really bad cook (love her!) so we're cooking Christmas dinner for her. We'll relax on Christmas eve though, my Grandma and my Dad will be cooking and that's where I learned my skilz. ;-)

Who does the cooking at your family functions?
