I think it's true because when DH does the grocery shopping or cooks to help me out, I definitely appreciate it but I feel like it's more annoying for him than was worth the effort. I would love for DH to cook a few times a week, but he doesn't get home in time to prep and cook. When I got pregnant, DH started cooking, something he's never done before. He would read food blogs and follow each step, he was actually quite a good cook, I felt tricked all for the years I was cooking. During tax season I will try to go on Saturdays while DH is working but that doesn't always happen. </p> <p>I always cook with the exception of Friday nights - that is when DH makes his amazing chicken, broc &amp; ziti. The hubs gets REALLY annoyed with me when i don't go grocery shopping or make dinner (you dont work, so what do you do all day?). we used to do both together, but now I do both alone. Then I almost passed out at Wamart alone, so Dan wouldn't let me go alone anymore. Once I feel more comfortable takin S out alone I'll start doing the shopping without him again. I don't cook that much now that I'm pregnant (always tired, always nauseous or too hungry to wait),...I'd say we only cook dinner maybe 60% of the time, and I do it 90% of that 60%. </p> <p>Sometimes he'll make a chicken curry and rice or something. But not usually on weeknights--it's more of a weekend thing. my "cooking" is usually super easy stuff, like pasta, sauce, and bought turkey meatballs that I brown.</p> <p>Confession: Last night I was *starving* on the way home, so I got a kid's meal at mcdonalds. Then I was hungry two hours later and ate 2 bowls of cereal at 6 pm(yup...2nd tr right here), so then I was SUPER full and didn't want to cook. DH got home at 7:30 and I told him I didn't make anything and he would have to fend for himself (we DO have frozen foods and whatnot). He ended up just eating 3 bowls of pistachios--that's it!
