My 3 1/2 month old def favors her mommy. My husband is pretty understanding about it. He gets that I'm a SAHM, she's with me all day long, so naturally she's most comfortable with me.

I think it breaks my heart more than his when it comes to bed time, he's trying feed her, and she's screaming her head off! We ended up doing a bed time routine where we would do bed time together every night, I would feed her and he'd stay in the room. Then he started to feed and I'd stay in the room. If she'd freak out I'd talk or sing to her till she'd calm down. Eventually I could leave the room, and then he could feed her alone. Now we do every other night.

If she's crazy fussy I'm still the one to comfort her, but it's nice to know that if I'm sick or if something happens, my hubby can put her to bed :)

I think it's really tough to say. I know he's a momma boy and clearly acts differently with me than he does with the hubs, but when Marc leaves he cries and wants to go with him.

I think once I have another baby it will be mommy mommy mommy, but for now, its pretty equal. Id say 60% me 40% hubs.

Yikes, this is what I've been worrying about for the past week or so. I've been home with my baby girl for 12 weeks. I return to work next week at which point my husband will be home with her for a couple of months (this will help mommy with transitioning back to work). If she begins preferring him, it will be so difficult for me. I'm comforted by the fact that with nursing comes a natural bond, or so I hope...

I don't think my son gets the concept of love at 10 months. He knows that when he is with certain people, he gets food, attention, etc. He is also with me the entire day, so when he hears the key in the door, he's off like a thunderbolt to find his dad and get some male bonding time.

My LO definitely loves me more but in all fairness, she does spend at least 4X more time with me than with daddy. This was especially hard for my husband when she was around 6 months old and went through a clingy phase and absolutely refused to be held by him. Luckily, that passed quickly. Now, she LOVES to play with him when he gets home. No one makes her laugh as big as daddy does.

I hear that kids tend to favor their dads in their toddler years - It's gonna be hard being #2.

My DH has always been second fiddle. He's expressed some sadness over this but not overly. I think he just assumes it is inevitable for now but hopes that our daughter will be daddy's little girl some day.

We spend about the same amount of time with her every day, and I am her absolute favorite. My husband doesn't mind too much because he says "I'm the greatest person on the planet as long as you're not in the room!" And it's true, she loves us both so much, but I'm the favorite for now.

This has been the hardest part of being a dad for my husband. For the first few weeks, I was everything to Wombat because I'm her "Magic Cow." After six weeks, she got a bottle from Dad, but she fought it, which only upset my husband to the point of tears.

Now, I'm at work and he's home with her most of the day. I know she'll start favoring him and I will be second and it's devistating to me, especially if my MIL gets picked over me.

My baby definitely loves me more. But that's because he/she (we find out gender next week) is still in my uterus, haha. I think about this a lot though, especially since I was DEFINITELY a Mama's girl when I was very little.

My son wasn't particularly preferential to one of us or the other until we sleep trained him at 6 months. I couldn't participate because 1.) I nurse him and he would smell the milk and wouldn't understand why I wasn't feeding him and 2.) because I can't stand to let him cry without trying to fix it. Since then, because my husband does all of the night time duties, he is my son's favorite. We both work so he is in daycare during the day and I see him about 3 - 4 hours total per day during the week and almost half of that is in the car so his interaction with me is unfortunately limited. It hurts my feelings in a big way but I know it isn't his fault and our relationship will change once he's no longer nursing and I can help take care of him at night. (At least that is my hope!)

Daddy is definitely my baby girl's best friend. He's a stay at home dad and they have a special bond that I really enjoy watching form. I was never close with my father and I am so happy with how much she loves her daddy, but I'd be lying if I said it didn't make me sad sometimes. With that being said when she's older and mommy is the one playing teaparty and dress up we'll see who she loves best :)

Oh MrBee, this is a topic near and dear to my heart especially since my daughter, Kylie, is at that stage where she is starting to "show" her preference. I am really the parent that she spends the most time with. My husband really there "recreationally" as I like to call it. He plays with her until she starts going wild and then she's automatically back in my arms.

I don't know if it's the daddy's little girl thing, but she loooooves her father! She stares at him with such affection and if we are all laying down on the bed, she automatically turns towards him and strokes his face, coos at him, does everything in her power to get his attention. Sometimes it annoys me and frustrates me, but sometimes I really get it because I too have a great connection with my dad.

With that said, I am still the one she wants when she wants to be comforted and fussy. Lucky me.

For me, the biggest surprise of parenting has been how hard it can be when your baby loves the other parent more.

Everyone knows that kids play favorites (I sure did as a kid). In practical terms, this means that for most of Charlie's short life to date, Charlie has loved his mommy more.

This can be surprisingly difficult emotionally. For most of this year, I've woken up with Charlie and given him his morning bottle every day. For a long time, that meant that we spent 3-4 quality hours every day. We were close, he loved me, and he didn't have a clear favorite.

But lately, he's been waking up later in the morning and our morning time has been cut short. So it's only natural that he'd start preferring mommy, with whom he has more time in the evening. I expected that, and wasn't surprised or upset when Charlie started turning to his mom more and more.

But then last week, things reached a new low. For a few days, Charlie refused to take his morning bottle from me and kept asking for mommy. He wouldn't take the bottle, and I had to go get Mrs. Bee so she could give him his morning milk.

In my personal life, if someone doesn't want to spend time with me, I am not going to force them to hang out with me. But if I take that attitude here, then I'll just spend less time with Charlie and we'll drift apart. So for me, it's tough because sometimes I have to force Charlie to do something he doesn't want to do: spend time with daddy when he could be gloriously ensconced in mommy's arms.

Anyway I don't have an answer here. beyond just making sure to spend as much time with him as possible. I read somewhere that quality time = quantity time, and that is so true.

But I've been surprised to read that some kids show a preference for the parent who isn't always around! How can I get in on that one haha! Anyway I have been curious about how the split goes, so thought I'd ask.

* Who does your baby love most?
* And is that person the parent that baby spends the most time with?
