Mommy and Daddy are pretty much interchangeable. He'll start off with mommy and then switch back and forth until someone comes.

Sometimes he calls for Mommy, but Daddy gets up, and that's usually okay. Most of the time he just gets up and crawls into our bed and cuddles with me for a few minutes until he's calm, and then D takes him back to his room.

D and I have an arrangement that if he wakes up before 6:15 D takes care of it (he works second shift so he doesn't have to be up nearly as early as me). Great in theory, but in reality E usually wants to at least see/hug me for a minute, and that's okay, since I can at least stay in bed for it :silly:

@travellingbee: we started early in my pregnancy, because I was super sick, from 5.5-23 weeks and on 3 anti nausea drugs that all have dizziness and drowsiness as side effects (and I was still working full time). So very early on, DH had to take over night wakeups. That made it handy for when the baby arrived, so now we each have one kid.

As with any transition, it takes persistence. She used to take turns calling for mama and daddy, and the first few times she called for mama and I didn't go, she was upset. But then she got used to it after a few nights.

LO1 just cries out in the middle of the night, and DH usually brings him to the bathroom to go potty. LO2 mostly cries out for me. If I don't respond quickly enough, he starts calling for DH.

Always mommy. But she is ok if daddy comes instead. He's been taking most of the night time wakings, partly because he will be taking them all when I'm up breastfeeding the new baby, so we want her to be used to it, and mostly because I'm so freaking tired while pregnant that I can't get through the day when I'm up with her at night. Like I have meltdowns all day long- I'm worse than the toddler.

Always mommy. DH is a very deep sleeper so he doesn't even usually hear him cry out right away. I'm a light sleeper.

@travellingbee: this is what we are dealing with right now. DH goes in to comfort the toddler and she keeps crying and insisting on Mummy. But I am ebf the 6 week old so i have to deal with that too. Ugh, this too shall pass.

DD calls for both of us. Usually DH goes in but I do sometimes as well. I'm recovering from a C-section right now so he also alternates baby wake ups with me (not BFing).

The toddler usually cries for daddy, because that's our division of labor. He gets the toddler's wakeups (which are still nightly) and I do the baby's wakeups.

99.9% of the time it's mommy. I think my kids are just wired to cry mommy when they are sad. They do ask for daddy in situations where I'm not letting them do something ;)
