My daughter was 9lbs even at birth. She's consistently been in the 95-99th percentile in height and usually around the 80-85th percentile in weight.

I feel like she's hit her milestones on the later side of average. She started rolling at 3 months, but it took her a while to be consistent. She started sitting unsupported at 6 months. She got her first tooth and started crawling at 8 months.

I have a little teapot baby... short and stout! She's less than 5% for height but 90% for height vs. weight. She is hitting her gross motor milestones right on time if not a tad early. I think her big belly helped her hit sitting up.

I have a barely 3y old (as in 36m) who can easily pass for 5. He's 40/40, so 40in and 40lbs. He was around 26lbs at around 9 months. He then slimmed down once he was moving more and was 25lbs at his 1y appointment (and 32"). (36" and around 34lbs at 2y). At birth he was an average 8lbs 7oz and a long 22.75 inch.
My second is polar opposite, she's only around 20 lbs at 15m.

@mauxie: my first son is a big boy! He was 8lb 5oz at birth. He was back to his birth weight by 2 weeks & 15.5lb/ 24.5" long (93%) at 2 months. He was the chubbiest boy and breastfed until 2years. I remember he really leaned out around 1yr. Now he'll be 3 in July and he's 42lbs!!! He's such a strong, big boy. Now when it comes to genes, my husband is 6' and I'm 5'9. So we're not huge people but my brother and my husband side of guys are all really big guys so my son definitely has taken after the big boys of the family.
I just had my 2nd son and he's so much smaller than my first so it'll be interesting if he keeps up with his big brothers growth chart ;)

@junebugsmama: I have a friend whose baby was 30lbs by 6 months (no joke!) and then didn't gain weight for over a year. Just stretched out. He is now 7 and suuuuuuper tall. Looks like. 10 year old.

@mauxie: preservatives lol! DS was 8/8 at birth and about 18-19 now at 5 months so definitely a big baby! He's met all his milestone. In fact he rolled back to front at 3 months! I wouldn't worry at all. The pediatrician says he's "vigorous." ;)

My DS has always been high in the percentiles for height and weight. He started to slow down in growth a little (meaning he'd last a season in a clothing size) at around 18 months. He started to slim down between age 2 and 2.5. I see more muscle definition now than baby fat, and his tummy is no longer pudge. He is still super solid, strong, and tall at 2.5 (96% in height & 88% weight).

He's always been agile and reached his milestones on time. He walked a bit early imo at 10 months. Babies all are different, but will all eventually reach their milestones!

My DH is very muscular, but average height. I'm 5'9" though and have lots of tall people in the family gene pool. Who knows how DS will turn out?

Lo was 9 pounds and 22.5 inches tall. 18 pounds just shy of 3 months. At 14 months he is 34" and 28 pounds, I just got a bunch of 3t shirts for the summer.

It's no joke hauling a big baby around at 2 months pp. I feel you!

He crawled at 7.5 months, cruised at 9 months, climbed ladders at 10 months. Just started walking at 13 months. He is a climber and very active.

Everyone thinks he's older even though he is still very clearly a baby in how he moves. It's only going to get worse.

People are always surprised when they meet dh because they expect him to be a big guy. We are both tallish but not big.

Both of my girls are big. They were born normal'ish, each under 8lbs, but they grew quick! At 6 months they were each right around 20lbs. My now 4.5 year old is over 50lbs and my 17 month old was 30lbs at her 15 month well check.

My second one was quicker on the physical milestones with walking at 10 months. The older one walked between 12-13 months.

My pediatrician told me to expect both of them to be on the "late" side of the ranges for physical items because they just had more mass to move and heavier heads to hold up.

Big baby here! (Raises arm reluctantly since it hurts from shoulder injury of carrying said baby!)

Born 7 lbs 9 oz, lost a bit over 10% down to 6lbs 12oz.
15 lbs by 2 mo
20 lbs by 4 mo
25 lbs by 6 mo
30 lbs at 1 year

Now at 15m he's 31 lbs. 99%ile for everything. My husband is sort of stocky but not super tall, and I am 5'7''. He crawled at 6m and walked by 12.5m. He nursed super well and often! My husband hurt his wrist rocking him when I went back to work and I hurt my shoulder and got a couple sessions of PT. but he's definitely getting a bit more lean now that he runs and climbs on everything. He's just a really big guy!

My son has always been big. He weighed 12 pounds at his 1 month appointment (8.7 lbs at birth). People mistake him for 6 even though he is 4. He is currently about 3 feet 7 inches tall and about 55 pounds. He may be taller now. The doctors thinks that he will be 6 feet 5 inches when he is an adult. My husband is very tall and muscular.

@lovehoneybee: Wow!! My daughter is 3.5 and still under 30 lbs haha. My son is 2 and in the 75th percentile for height and weight. Funny how the range is so broad even with siblings

@travellingbee: Haha! We are pretty much in 9-12 month clothes too. It was sad packing up all the barely used 3-6 month stuff.

My baby armatures average (7lb6oz) but quickly progressed to 85% and has been there since. She has hit most of milestones early (crawled at 7 mo, cruised at 8 mo, walking by 10.5, can walk backwards and climb down stairs at 13 mo).

My son was 8lb12oz and 21.5", but he's been in the mid-90th percentiles pretty much since. He's 3.5 and weighs 46lbs...I'm not sure how tall, but over 3ft...he his comes up right below my breasts (I'm 5'3ish). He never really had any baby rolls or anything, either...he was very dense, all muscle! My second (a girl) is so slight in comparison...she only weighted a pound less at birth, but at 4 months she's in the 18th percentile for weight (still tall, though...I think 75th).

He hit his physical milestones on the early side...he was crawling at 6.5 months and walking at 10. His father is very tall and lean, as is my MIL and her parents, so he definitely takes after them!

DS2 was pretty average sized at birth -- 8lb3oz and 21", but he's a pretty big boy now (2.5 months).

At his 2 month appt, he was 16.9lbs! His height is proportionate (99th percentile) but man my arms are tired from holding this big blob, hehe. To put it into perspective, my daughter was 19lbs at her 1 year appt.

I don't feel like he nurses any more than my first two kids did, in fact it seems like he nurses less so maybe he's just efficient and has big boy genes? My mom actually asked me if I was eating foods with lots of preservatives or something bc we are all so shocked by his size.

Did your big baby meet milestones "on time"? I don't see this little guy rolling over any time soon..

If/when did they slow down in growth, or lean out?
