@BlueWolverine: do the unisom. When you go into labor you will be very happy you slept well beforehand! I took unisom for weeks and weeks during my pregnancy to battle morning sickness and LO is perfectly healthy. I was only 1cm and 50% effaced when I went into labor so things could start at any time.

But I agree with @bebefly: once the baby comes yes sleep is hard to come by but when baby sleeps at least you can finally get comfortable and sleep yourself!

My hands have been falling asleep for like the last two weeks or so too. More so my right hand. Wow glad I am not the only one.

@BlueWolverine: My right hand is ALWAYS asleep! It doesn't even matter what side I'm on! So perplexing...

So happy to hear I'm not the only one! Last night my arm/shoulder kept falling asleep, which made getting up/turning over that much more difficult. I took off work today (it's slow anyway) and am about to nap on the couch. I'm hoping an early in the day nap will not damage sleep later tonight.

I bought some Unisom, for some some stupid reason I don't like having to rely on it. I need to get comfortable with it though - better to sleep with Unisom for the next week and half then not at all. Went to the doc this morning and I barely dialated, though she does think I'm beginning to thin out, which is good news. I'm due Jan 12, but it seems like she's going to wait longer then that....

I'm 32 weeks and take Unisom when I have a really tough time sleeping. My bottom leg/hip/butt area keeps going numb and I have to flip pretty often, which is such a weird sensation. Sorry you're having a tough time! I suspect my sleep will get gradually worse.

I remember the horrid flip from one side to the other.... I was so big, I needed my DH to help push. That was not a very fun aspect of pregnancy. Don't worry, you are almost at the finish line!!!!

Tylenol PM has been my best friend. I have found that I'll sleep really crappy one night but If I pop one tylenol PM (which is safe, and I only take one, not the two in a regular dose) I can usually get a good nights sleep. I still wake up to pee but its much easier to fall back asleep after. I'm 39+3.

Yep. Woke up at 4:30 with DH bc my nose is stuffy and I have a tickle in my throat. Oh yeah and my arms fall asleep so I have to turn over every hour as well. Boo.

Have you tried sleeping on the couch? For me, I was able to sleep better there than in bed. My bed was too soft to make turning ove easy. Also, I took a benedryl each night and was able to get a solid 5-6 hours before waking up.

Yep. Went to bed at 10 (could have at 8 but puttered around the nursery instead), up and down, turning over a million times, now wide awake and starving at 4 am!

I was a complete insomniac for most of my third trimester. I ended taking a nap almost every single day during the last month.

oh, I totally did. I sleep best on my stomach and of course that's not possible in the 3rd tri, so, yah. I'd wake up to shift position, from DH's snoring, and then of course to pee/eat/drink.

The best thing about not being pregnant anymore is that, if you REALLY need to sleep, someone else can take the baby for a couple of hours. And once you figure out how to nurse lying down it gets SO much better. DH regularly takes LO in the morning (an hour and a half of extra sleep) & returns him to me when he's hungry and then we both get to nap for another hour or two.

Sorry girl! I totally feel for you as I posted about my insomnia last night/this morning. And I still have 9+ weeks to go! I feel you on the bathroom trips and turning over. I am not exaggerating when I say I have to turn positions at least once every hour and go to the bathroom about every 2 hours at night. :/

I'm currently 38+4 and sleep issues are killing me. When I'm finally tired enough to attempt going to bed, my sleep quality is horrible due to bathroom trips and the effort required to simply turn over. I went back to work today after being off for over a week, and I was so exhausted I fell asleep at 7:30, woke up at 10:30pm, and am now not sleepy at all.

I'm super ready for this baby to be born. Yes, I know there will be a crying infant in my house, but at least when I do get to sleep I might actually be able to SLEEP. That's my hope, at least...
