Our reasoning: we used to take turns and have one night be someone's entire responsibility while the other had the night off. But I had a terrible time going back to sleep once DD woke up for her 4:30/5 am bottle while he hated getting up at 6 or 6:30 for the day. This way I sleep better at night and he has no problem falling asleep after an early bottle. And yesterday, DH slept till 9.</p> <p>What I like best about our "switch off" weekend method is that whoever wakes up early with the kids gets to take a nap with the kids that day if they want. So yesterday, I woke early with the kids at 6 am and DH slept till 9. But then I slept from 1-3 with LO1 while DH had to deal with LO2's refusal-to-nap shenanigans. I decided "F it" and stayed in bed till 9am, even if I wasn't asleep the whole time. OMG it was incredible and now I do it every Saturday assuming we have no plans. But his night sleep is thrown off now, so DH gets up during the night (because I'm pregnant and need as much sleep as I can get), while I do weekend mornings. He wakes up and takes a bath, if the toddler isn't already in our bed, he brings her in to me. She and I either go back to sleep (rare) or cuddle and play. Then my husband takes kiddo and gets her breakfast and I go back to sleep. Some days I'll only sleep another 20 minutes, some days it's two hours. All depends on how we're all feeling. We then both get to "sleep in". DH can sleep late.
