We have it in our current house. We had no other option since we are very far away from any gas lines. The house had only a wood stove prior to moving in. We noticed an increase in power bill but not outrageous. We really like it as it gives both heat and cool. We live in an extremely cold climate and it has never once given us grief.

I know that the oil heat at my old house is ungodly expensive. I feel like anything would be cheaper. And I know that you can get tax credits for replacing oil heat with more energy efficient systems.

We had it in the house we lived in when I was in middle school. I don't know the bill amounts, obviously, but my mom and I have discussed it since and she really misses having it. She said the bills were MUCH better. And they never had to have any repairs done that I was aware of (and I'm pretty sure I would have been). Though it was a brand new house when we moved in, and we were only there I think 2.5 years, so I can't say if it continued to hold up well.

We just bought an old house with oil heat. It is insanely expensive, and have been considering changing to geothermal. DH talked to someone who has had major problems with geothermal- multiple things needing to be replaced that has been very expensive.

Do you have geothermal? If so...
1. How do you like it?
2. What are the problems?
3. How much do you pay in summer/winter? (Also please give an idea of house size and climate.)
4. Would you do it again?
