The hospital is very pro skin to skin time so as soon as she was born, she went right on my chest for DH to cut the umbilical cord, and then they wrapped a blanket over us both, DD started nursing (sort of) and that is how we stayed for the next hour and a bit. Worst nightmare!</p> <p>The OB put her on me while the nurse wipes her off, then after she was weighed and wrapped, DH brought her back to me. I held her for a few, let him hold her, then I got her back. My parents came up and held her, then I did skin to skin while the nurse finished putting everything in the computer. I also held her while we were wheeled upstairs (DH had all the bags!) and he fell right asleep while I obsessed and held her all night. Our boy was first so the nurses put him in my arms and hubby held our girl. I actually don't think I held her for maybe 45 minutes?! He cut the cord, and it was too short for them to put DS on my chest right away so they had to cut it before I could hold him. Maybe I held him first? I can't remember, it was all such a blur! I do remember that I didn't get to try to nurse him- they took him back pretty quickly to weigh him.
