He was in NICU for so long and she took such great care of him. She basically became a part of our family. We liked her name because it was Japanese without being too Japanese. The first name also happens to be one of DH's brother's names but we'll be using a different nickname. If it's a girl, the first name is just a name we like but we'll be using DH's grandmother's name for the middle name.</p> <p>We were close to each of these grandparents (individually - both died before DH and I met) but they both have strong WWII connections, which we find pretty cool. My grandpa landed in Normandy on D-Day and fought through to the end of the war; DH's grandmother was a rations officer in London during the war.
