Just bought DD's potty! I'm excited to start, though it will only be in the evenings.

@BabyLove: Elimination Communication is basically a way to reduce diapers and start reading a baby's cues to let them start using the toilet at a very young age, instead of potty training the years later. There's more information about it here - http://www.nappyfreebaby.co.uk/what-is-elimination-communication

We are. We started when DS was about 2 months old, but put it on the back burner while we were sorting his food allergies out. Once things calmed down we really picked it up again and he has responded wonderfully.

He's 9.5 months now and will not have a BM unless he is on his potty. He pees whenever given the chance and most diapers I change are dry. He's been going longer periods between diaper changes as well. My parents got a potty for their house and he's been getting it out of the cabinet when he has to go lately. Oh and the look on his face when we have a catch is priceless! He loves being a big boy and going on his little potty.

Interesting...I've never heard of this before. My baby is 3 months and I have no idea when she pees, but she for several weeks she would poo pretty consistently right after she woke up and nursed...and again after her afternoon nap and nursing session.

It is hard to keep motivated right now for us. DS is 8 weeks old and sleeps so much that we don't want to spend so much of his waketime on the potty. I'm optimistic that if we just keep doing it every so often, maybe a couple times a day, it won't be so scary for him once we get closer to potty training.

I have no idea when LO is peeing.... and now I also have no idea when she's pooing. She fools us all the time making me think she poo'd, but she's usually just pushing out a toot. So I don't think EC is for us.

We started when she was 4-5 months. She was so good! I would say she peed 50-80% of the time I put her on the potty depending on the day. I was not very good at catching poos though.

She hasn't been as willing to go this past month (8-1/2 months). We might catch one pee a day and she makes much more obvious poo faces now so I catch a lot more of them. Trying to figure out why she stopped as willingly peeing on the potty but I'm still happy we're doing our own version of EC, less diapers to change.

I know there are a few of you out there. How's it going? We just started with DS (almost 8 wks old) - we wanted to ease into it and wait till he had better head control for holding him over the potty. Just got him his own little seat, and he looks so cute sitting on it! We have caught several pees this week, usually just after getting him up from a nap. I can't say I pick up his cues, but that will come!
