Eh, we switch off? I'm home with him more, so I'm bad cop by default. When DH is home, though, he's more often bad cop. E is very responsive to bad cop/good cop, so D disciplines him, then I go in after a few minutes and be the burn balm, so to speak, and we talk about why he's being punished. And then D comes back in to "make up". It's very effective in our house. It really sucks when I try to do it by myself, though...if I'm legit mad at something he's done or just his general behavior it's really hard to shut it down to be the good cop.

Definitely me. DH never undermines me or anything, and it's not done in a bad/mean way or something I resent, but yeah I'm definitely the bad cop.

@ValentineMommy: Same here! DH seems like the disciplinarian in the house, but I try to be more Janet Lansbury like and I do feel like when I'm kind a a softie/push over, I do a "better" job, for now.

Well, I think I discipline more effectively. DH is an automatic yeller (which drives me crazy), so while he seems to be the bad cop, his yelling really is ineffective. Since DS listens to me more when I discipline, so I guess it's me.

We are pretty even. He hears no from me more since I'm with him more, but he also hears yes from me more. He takes us both seriously. We both have moments where we think the other was too lenient/too harsh, but overall have very similar styles.

Same! I'm the bad cop because I spend more time with him and DH doesn't want the little time he spends with DS to be a negative experience for both of them. Plus he is way more calm and patient so he just doesn't tend to get upset or discipline as much as I do.

I'm around more and DS1 doesn't take my mom as seriously as far as discipline (she's his primary caretaker), so I end up being the "bad cop," a lot.

DH is very much like me in the discipline area, but at the same time he isn't around as much; so he has more patience to spare during the week which also defaults to me being "bad cop."

I don't mind disciplining, but sometimes it makes me sad that all DS ever hears from is what he shouldn't be doing!
