I'm not sure... DH definitely plays with him a lot, but I do too as I'm the SAHM. I think I just get more exhausted playing with him since I'm with him all day every day. It's easier for DH to just spend the weekend playing.

However, DH has turned into a crazy overprotective parent as well; I'm more laid back and ho-hum about stuff. I don't sweat the small stuff at all. So in that regard I might allow DS to do more things.

I think we'll be pretty evenly split.

LO is only 4 months old but DH is already the fun parent. He 'flies' her around the room, does all the roughhousing play (relatively speaking of course), and is just the 'silly' parent. I love watching it though - DD loves it and seeing her face light up when Daddy plays with her is so darn cute. I always knew it would be this way though. We are committed being a united front when it comes to discipline though.

O DH is for sure the fun parent, I'm the rule maker parent. I knew that would be the way it is long before she was born. I'm at peace with it

@MamaMoose: i know what you mean! i always say, "i will not be bad cop!!" but, generally, when it comes to discipline we are a united front. and even if we don't necessarily agree right then, we present as a united front and then talk later if we disagreed.

i don't mind not being the fun one all the time, though...because it means lil' cb always comes running to me for hugs when he gets hurt after playing rough with daddy! haha!

This is actually something I'm really worried about. I know babies are nothing like dogs. But with our dog my husband always wants to be fun and will never be the bad guy! (I'm the only one who enforces not letting the dog on the bed, I have to yell at hubs because he gives the dog too many treats and he's getting overweight, pup hurt his shoulder and is supposed to rest but hubs feels bad and plays rough with him anyway because the pup likes it, etc). I hate having to be the only responsible one an he's the fun one. We have many talks about the fact that I really will not be ok with him fighting me like this with the baby and wanting to only be "fun" and not necessarily doing what's best for baby. He says he gets it but I'll admit I'm worried.

the hubs is totally the fun parent. he "plays" with lil' cb more and generally goofs around with him more. and i love that! it's so sweet watching them together. i tend to do more of the day to day general care (bathing, bedtime routine, etc) as well as more activity type stuff (like crafts, etc.).

do you have a "fun" parent in your family? who is it?
