Meals, activities, holidays, trips, Mother's Day, my birthday, dates are all on me. I'm frustrated by it because DH manages to plan stuff with his friends (daily video games, weekend trips, even shipping a car to Europe and driving to China). If I left the vacation planning g to DH we wouldn't go anywhere. He has his ideas, he just tends to get too anxious about choosing one and following through so winds up doing nothing. From big things like finances to little things like gifts, decorating our house, and vacations, I am the planner. I even pick out my own birthday/ Christmas gifts hahaha. I am super Type A and DH isn't, so we are both happier this way. I will offer options and ask his opinion on things, but most of the time he tells me to do whatever I think is best anyway... It can actually get out of hand sometimes because we both like to feel involved with decisions. I'm checking urban planning docs to see construction timelines and when the public transit will be built in our neighborhood and what year we need to register my 1 yo for school. Perhaps a little overboard, but it makes me feel better. DH loves planning out gifts in advance though. DH doesn't work a set schedule, so it's like pulling teeth to try to get him to agree to any set date for anything because it requires requesting off. But once a trip is planned, he's good at setting up things like a special/surprise dinner. He's just more of a last minute planner than I am. I prefer to plan more in advance and in an organized manner. She plans every aspect of our trips, and all I have to do is show up. I am pretty good at planning smaller excursions for the kids. I used to pack our weekend full of events when I lived in Brooklyn, but I haven't been doing too much of that lately. But I coordinated a beach trip last weekend, and a boat trip today - so it's a muscle that I still remember how to use. Who is the planner in your relationship?
