it will definitely be hubs. i'm definitely on the side of learning through experience, but he doesn't want our little one to ever experience anything negative. i want our kids to learn to be self-sufficient and adventurous (like me), but he wants our kids to be cautious and reserved (like him).

I think it'll be me. DH is more laid back in general and was raised without as many restrictions as me. He thinks my parents were a little overbearing. I do, too! But I still think I'll be the excessive one.

Depends. I also tend to give lo bigger food and dh will say, "is that too big for her? " ummm....I feed her three meals a day. She hasn't choked yet!

Also if lo is with any of her grandparents and she starts to cry, he jumps up to make sure she's ok. I always assume if she's not ok they will let me know. Every single time she is crying because they said no to her for something. A sure way to make her cry.

I would have sworn it would be me when I was pg. I'm such a worrier. But turns out DH is insanely protective. It's actually comical, but it's almost to a fault because then he treats me like a bad mom for allowing DS to do things that he wouldn't allow.

Examples:
My nephew was over to our house and had had the croup the week prior. I told DH to just not let him touch the same toys; he held him in his arms the entire time my nephew was at my house! It was so funny.

Another example: I started out pureeing food for DS and have slowly added more texture and now he can "chew" with his gums, so for soft foods like avocado or sweet potato I give him chunks and he gnaws on it. Many times he gags as he's learning to eat and swallow but DH thinks I'm a bad parent and essentially I'm choking him. He purees ALL his food. At his sisters wedding I was letting him suck on a cube of cantaloupe, but I had to leave so I handed him off to SIL and she let him gnaw on it; he "bit" off a piece and gagged and DH snatched him away from SIL and wouldn't let her feed him.

It's insanely crazy. Most times I laugh, but there have been times it really hurts because he treats me so negatively.

Who is the more protective parent, and does it ever cause dissension?
