I loved it too. Wish I had known about it years ago, because just knowing the day your period is due is sooooooooo nice (my cycles were irregular).

I totally, totally agree! I always saw temping as this totally unromantic thing that takes the fun out of everything! The image of Emily Mortimer in "Match Point" with a thermometer hanging out of her mouth saying, "My cervical mucus is thickening!" (or something) has stayed with me. But it really is exciting and interesting! And all those VIP features have me hooked. I gave in and signed up for 90 more days of VIP. :)

@Sweetchic: BFP after 4 rounds of Clomid, huh?? That's so awesome! I'm just starting Clomid this cycle, and I have my fingers crossed. How many mgs were you on?

I really liked charting and temping too, and seeing the pattern emerge!! (Although never saw much difference in CM)

And I NEVER expected that we would get our BFP during our very first month of charting, especially after 4 rounds of Clomid. Good luck!!

@Happygal: I can totally understand your situation. This is our 4th month trying, with a CP in there, too. Even though it's just 4 months, we might stop trying until later in the summer. We live in Portland, which is really rainy, and I don't really want to have a December-March baby (too depressing here). BUT, I just mentioned to my husband that I'll quit charting/everything until we're ready to actively try again. It's very great to have the insider view of your pregnancy, but it does get very tiring after so many BFN.

And, sending soooo much positive energy your way for good news at the end of your TWW!!

@KjfromNj: if I were temping to avoid pregnancy, I would be much more diligent about taking my temp at the same time every morning. But now, I just try to be good about it during my fertile week, and other times I'm not as worried if I'm off one morning.

I thought I was knowledgeable about my body and getting pregnant before we started TTC, but I've learned so much!
While I am a big fan and would recommend it to most people, I have to confess that it hasn't been all stress free. My first cycle was perfect (minus the not pregnant part)--dip for ovulation, big spike the next day, and so on. The rest of all been different, and one cycle my O date on FF got moved about 3-4 times! Also, for my first cycle, my temp dropped and I got my period two hours later. For the other cycles, it's been a more gradual thing, and those days are sad......each morning I hope that my temperature will miraculously spike again. I'm not temping this TWW, and it feels strange, but it is a better situation for me.

I totally agree! The first month of TTC we didn't chart and I just assumed that I'd O around CD14 like most people so we'd time it that way. SO not true! I started charting a few months ago on cycle 2 and it REALLY opened my eyes as to what was going on with my body (I don't usually O until CD 22!!!) and the data nerd inside me loves taking my temp everyday :)

I'm kind of 50/50 with it but that's because I don't always wake up at the same time and I think my temps are a bit wonky. Also I haven't been 100% committed to writing down EVERYTHING. But if this isn't my cycle, next one I will be much more on top of temps and tracking symptoms, because I do like knowing more about how my body is working!

@cherrybee: Ugh, I wish other people would just mind their own business, haha. I agree about feeling less stressed. And, hooray for that chart giving you a really accurate date!

Glad you've taken to charting! I really enjoyed it too. I charted for 3 months after I stopped the pill but we weren't trying yet and then got pregnant on month 4/1st month w/o any form of BC. I knew before I got my BFP at 11 dpo that chances were very high that we conceived..... Sending you lots of good baby vibes!!

I loved charting! I agree that people screw their faces up if you mention that you're doing it and try to discourage you from "stressing yourself out" but it made me feel less stressed! When I got pregnant, my midwife insisted on calculating my due date by my LMP but at my 12 week scan they amended it, showing that I conceived on the exact day my chart says I O'd! I was amazed all over again! Charting works!!

I'm really glad I charted. I don't know about "fun" but it was really cool seeing what was going on in my body and recognizing symptoms and stuff, plus it took the craziness out of the 'when should my period start' or 'when can I test??' And of course, once I got my BFP, I know the exact date we made that baby :)

i only charted for a little bit, but i have to say it wasn't stressful at all. so many people think that if you chart, it "takes the fun out of it", but i agree with you... it's an amazing way to learn about how your body works and it is a little fun!

@Mrs. J: Oh my goodness. So much fun. I was reading last night about that second temp spike that can happen towards the end of the TWW, so I'm hoping to see that soon (sign of implantation??).

Ladies!! I just started charting last week on CD2. Before, I had been keeping track of my cycles in an app on my phone, and only moderately keeping track of CM & physical symptoms (like trying to decide if a cramp was O pain, etc.). I seriously feel like a new woman. Is this weird? I love waking up every morning & taking my temp. It's been fun watching a pattern start to form on FF, and I am really excited for O week to see that temp change. I thought getting to the point of charting would make me feel desperate, but it's the totally opposite. I feel like I have a really awesome inside perspective of my cycle (or will once this cycle is done).

There are so many taboo topics when it comes to TTC, and I feel like so many women or people in general put a lot of stress on "Just forget about it, and relax ... It always happens when you aren't trying!", but I think that's BS, haha. I love this new way of analyzing what's happening, and possibly having a better idea of when I'm Oing and if I should expect a BFP.

This is more of an observation than a question, but I'm sure many of you feel the same, right?
