We make roughly the same salary and don't have joint finances, so I manage our various accounts. We use a joint credit card for all purchases (for points) so that's easy to track, and then I go in and pay the remaining bills (mortgage, HOA, student loans) and manage how much we put into savings each month. Both of us pay the bills from our joint account, it just depends who opens the mail that day. I actually picked the mutual funds for his 401(k)! But my degree and job are in finance/accounting, so he just trusts me since I know more about it than him. When we first met I was way better at handling money than he was so I handled everything. When we bought the house, he purchased it in his name since I still had a house in my name. Less mess. He will still send out the payments, but they will all come from our joint account. But last night we had to tip all of our building staff and I was definitely closely involved in deciding the amounts, lol!
