Me. Always. DH works an off shift, so he's not home during the evenings, but really it would still be me.

@Maysprout: I was going to ask about this. For those of you that try to not nurse your baby all the way to sleep, wouldn't be a lot easier for Dad to do nighttimes?

Usually husband but not always. I nurse her so sometimes she gets a bit fussy if she was at the breast (even if not nursing just laying near) and then gets put down. But if she's with my husband she's already away from her milk. And he has a nicer singing voice.

We do every other night. We give her a bath and get her dressed together, but we switch on and off who gives her a bottle and puts her to bed.

My LO used to cry for hubby too, but I knew that we had to do something about it because I get severe migraines so there are times when I just can't be there for her. So we came up with a plan.

We did family bed time for a while, with me being the one to do everything. Hubby would stay in the room the whole time. Then we tried family bed time with him doing all the work. If she cried I would just take her. Finally she was ok with him putting her to bed, and each night I'd sneak out of the room earlier and earlier until he did it all himself. Now I make sure that we do every other night so she's used to both of us.

I put her down 100% of the time. And when she wakes up in the night, I go to her. I let the hubs sleep because he has to get up early for work.

My LO's bedtime is fairly early at 6, and my husband gets home between 5:15 - 5:30. It doesn't leave him with much time to spend with our son. We used to share bedtime duties, but now I let him put our son down to give him those extra bonding moments.

I started out doing it. DH never got the hang of the swaddle and I usually nursed DS to sleep. Once DS was a bit older, from about 6-18 weeks, DH would take over rocking/jiggling when DS was refusing to sleep after nursing. Usually it lasted 20ish minutes until he gave in, but some nights I just needed a break when DS was being particularly stubborn. Now that DS is no longer nursing, DS doesn't always fall asleep, but I usually still do his night time routine. DH does about 10% of the time, but I'm a little selfish with it, since I miss the bonding from nursing.

I would say I put the baby to bed 80% of the time (includes changing, feeding, reading, rocking). I think husband is nervous because the few times he has tried, the baby ends up crying until I go in and rock him to sleep.

Do you take turns or is this mommy's job? (I used to nurse the baby to calm him before bed so now, husband thinks since I have the boobs, it's my job)
