I was so sad when Palm stopped developing. I was such a Palm fangirl. I had a Palm Pilot II way back in the day. Then I upgraded to a Sony Clie, then to the Treo, then to a Centro (that would be a GREAT next step for you, slightly smaller but ALL the functionality) and then I made the switch over to Android.
