My first had barely any intelligible words at her second birthday but my second was speaking in three and four word sentences by 15 months, and now at 24 months, communicates her needs and thoughts in full, mostly intelligible, sentences. They're opposite ends of the spectrum. My first was in EI for a speech delay and finally said "mama" at 19 months. DD2 is 15 months and probably has 75 words. I'm going to hold out on judging until he's past the 18-22 month language explosion though. My second will be 2 in three weeks and we can barely understand more than a couple words.
