@snowjewelz: There are still lots of kids who nap at 3, but i know that napping just makes it harder for kids to go to bed at a normal hour. I remember as a kid i would end up taking a nap when i got home, but then i'm so wired that i don't fall asleep until 11pm. Btw, i do most of A's naps in the Ergo and i just drape a blanket over to "darken" his surroundings a bit more.

@FaithFertility: Ohh then I totally understand why you really want her to nap on the left side!

I really had no idea kids don't nap anymore! I seriously thought even Kindergarten had nap time!

@snowjewelz: it depends on the kid! In real life I don't know too many 3yo that nap. Except my sisters kids. Her 6yo still naps! I enforce quiet time every day and he just never falls asleep anymore!

@snowjewelz: if I want her to sleep I usually wear her in the Tula. It has a nap hood. If I time it right and she's tired and I put the hood up she falls asleep pretty fast after a couple min of fussing to get out.

@regberadaisy: I hope the sleep training helps! I'm so terrified to sleep train!

@MenagerieMama: Seriously. I guess mine is doing me a favor by NOT sleeping early?! lol

@FaithFertility: Can you just lay her to her preferred side for now to maybe start getting some good naps and then switch it up? Btw I think it's so cute that she likes to sleep on her side!

We still nurse to sleep at bedtime, I'm actually ok with it for now I think once we switch to crib we will switch that up too......

Naps.....are touch and go, I honestly get anxiety about them because she won't go down on her own and I'm trying to always lay her on her left side or facing her left and she hates it....even with the PT I think it is just her preferred way to sleep facing the right...

@regberadaisy: why is the first stretch always the longest?? I get more adult awake time I suppose but when her bedtime is 6:30-7 that doesn't help me much with my sleep! And then it's every 3 hours after that. Oye. I feel your pain mama.

Me! Me! Me!

Let's see. She's 7m and has been waking up every 2-3 hours since 3 weeks or so. In case you're too sleepy to count, that's 5-6 wakeups. I had a blissful month and a night here and there where she gave me 6 hour stretches. But it was her first stretch so I didn't really benefit from it. It got really bad when I started crib Training at 5m. Bedtime lately is taking over an hour and I'm currently sleep training to work on that. A few nights a week she thinks 3am is pajama party time and is up for over an hour.
Last few nights she has given me a first 4 hr stretch but I don't benefit from that.

I'm surviving on decaf and only having to work in the office one day a week. And DH has been taking the girls in the morning so I can sleep in. Oh, she freaks the F out if DH tries to take MOtN wakeups. Boobs only in the MOTN.

Naps. She refuses to nap in the crib. I might get one day a month where she naps in the crib. With a toddler who loves to play nap delay games that's just tons of fun! :)

@Peasinapod: My mom watches her mostly and she seems to be better with my mom! Grrr. I haven't worn her in the house b/c I didn't think she'd stay asleep like that... She did when she was very young but now she has to be in her room in the dark with white noise. Maybe I should try!

@snowjewelz: I do a lot of baby wearing. Dishes cooking things like that are easy while wearing her. For stuff I can't do with her I wait until my husband is home to take her. I definitely wish she'd nap in her crib, but I also love snuggling so I'm not bothered enough to try to change it. It's going to be hard on us all when I go back to work at 13 months...

Our night sleep is not too terrible. LO has her moments where she wakes in the middle of the night, and I need to rock her back to sleep, but its only happened a hand full of times. We did go through a 4 month regression.

Sleep training saved us, and I'm scared that we'll have to do it again once teething starts, or we go through any other change.

@coopsmama: This exactly. Except he had eliminated all wake-ups at 10 weeks and had been sleeping through the night except for a week during the 4 month regression.

He falls asleep like a charm at 7:15 sharp and stays that way until 3 AM. He now wakes-up for a feed (again, hasn't done this since 10 weeks) and then we put him back down and he wakes up again at 4 AM like clock work -- cries off and on in our arms until we get up for the day at 6 AM. My husband slept in the rocking chair last night. Of course we have house guests for the next 2 weeks, too, so we can't do anything about this problem. The second he peeps we have to jump up and grab him.

@snowjewelz: I've mentioned this to you before, but he also only takes naps really in arms -- and he's still on 4 naps at 7.5 months. This means that our Saturdays are spent taking turns being held hostage.

It does feel better to vent for a second! I've been trying to be a trooper since we have house guests - but I'm exhausted!

Not against cio. Although before I had a baby who refused to sleep I didn't understand why anyone would need to sleep train. I had one night where nothing would work and I let her 'cio' for a little over an hour. Luckily her sleep became bareable after that. Because her crying is too hard on me.

DS is just 11 weeks. His night sleep isn't great but isn't bad - down between 7-8, dream feed between 11-12, and then he'll wake up between 4-5 for a bottle and then between 7-8 for the day. So he's still only going a 5 hour stretch, max, but I can live with that.

The naps, though... OMG, if you can even call them naps. They were great until the past week, and now our "schedule" is all shot because he's sleeping for 20-30 minute stretches and then awake again. My loud toddler isn't helping matters either, especially with skipping his only nap twice in the past week.

Crazy babies. I'm not at all opposed to sleep training - I did modified CIO with DS1 - but I'm waiting until #2 is a little older and his reflux issues are under control before we attempt it.

@Pumpkin Pie: Nope, did it at a little under 16 weeks. It worked great (somewhat), and he was only waking up once. But all of a sudden, he has been waking up multiple times. We tried doing CIO for those wakeups (when he wakes up an hour after putting him down from a feeding) but he ends up waking up DD. I have held off nap training for now...
