I'm REALLY glad we had that moment alone for our first child. But I think for the next baby I want my mom in the room. I was nervous that if we let people in during labor, they wouldn't leave so to be easy we just so no one. </p> <p>When the time came, my mom, MIL and brother were in the waiting room. After a while, I wanted some company so they popped in and out. I called my mom, who lives a 3 hour plane ride away, after my water broke. She actually arrived while I was still in labor, so I let her into the room. When she arrived, I had been in labor approx 10 hours and welcomed her! I wouldnt change it. My parents were flying into town that day and we were supposed to pick them up from the airport, but they ended up having to take a cab to the hospital. I had told my Mom earlier that I only wanted DH in the room before and she said that's how she had wanted her first birth, so she totally understood. They were shown to our room when they got to the hospital though, and heard E's first cries through the door. I thought I would be totally stressed out with my mom in there, but her and my sister arrived just before I started pushing. I was so grateful to have them there with me. DH and my sister held my legs and my mom stood back and was a great cheerleader. When I was pregnant I was pretty adamant about only DH being in the room while I pushed, but now I wouldn't have changed anything. My sister got some good pictures that we probably wouldn't have had if she wasn't in there. I put him in charge of taking pictures, but thankfully the nurse took over picture duty when it was go time.
