I would say I'm the closest thing to a black sheep in my family, more so when I was younger. I was the party girl and my sister's were both very straight laced and married their high school boyfriends. Now, I would saw I'm more so due to the fact I have a better education and a better job/i.e. make more money than they do.

They sort of judge me and DH because of this as we have more money to have fun with than they do. I also waited "later" in life to get married (26) so they always thought I was weird because of that. (haha I know this isn't old, but around my area it's considered later in life.)

DH's family doesn't really have one, it's just him and his brother now and they are both successful, but I would say he used to be just because he was a bachelor into his 30s and no plans to settle down before meeting me. His mom still thanks me for settling him down, he was pretty wild before me.

I'm the black sheep in my family! While my brother and sister went to school to be an engineer and a lawyer, I went to art school and then was a nanny. But I ended up being the first to get married and have a baby!

Oh most definitely me in my family. It's clear to outsiders too. In DH's family... actually him. So we're a couple of weirdos. :)

My sister is the black sheep in my family because the rest of us are all very family oriented and very involved with each other, etc. She is not. We're lucky to hear from her once a month or so and when she does come home she spends maybe 20 minutes with us and then runs off with her friends.

On my husband's side, it's my husband only because he is a little more outspoken than his quiet family and more willing to call things out when his family would rather sweep them under the rug.

No real black sheeps in my family. Husband's sister is the black sheep--drugs, alcohol, dropped out of school, financial drain on the inlaws..

I love Wikipedia definitions:

"Black sheep is an idiom used to describe an odd or disreputable member of a group, especially within a family. The term has typically been given negative implications, implying waywardness. It derived from the atypical and unwanted presence of other black individuals in flocks of white sheep."

Apparently black wool was "considered commercial undesirable because it could not be dyed." Man, that makes it sound cool to be a black sheep! As in, you can't be affected by society... you march to the beat of your own drummer.

Anyway, who was the black sheep in your family? What about your SO's family?
