From what I understand, it's OK to do cheese and yogurt earlier because it won't replace breastmilk/ formula like cow's milk can, and cheese and yogurt are processed differently and easier to digest, even for people who have dairy intolerances. We buy Nancy's Organic whole milk yogurt and LO actually, surprisingly, likes it plain. Sometimes we mix in a drop of organic maple syrup, or a little sweet potato, pear, banana, or apple puree.

We buy YoBaby for LO. He loves the peach flavor! We've also tried the YoToddler but DS didn't like it. In addition to what @T-Mom: said, I've also heard that you don't want to fill your kid up with milk instead of formula/breastmilk.

@MungBean: thats great! Asian Pear is really mild. You could try banana too, if she likes that! Or berries if she is eating those.

@T-Mom: @chopsuey119: @caffeinated: thanks, guys! I bought some organic plain yogurt at Trader Joe's tonight & gave it to L with pureed Asian pear. She made a face - I think it was too tart - but ended up eating about an ounce, which I guess isn't bad for a first-time food :)

I give Lo yobaby and yotoddler now. She liked vanilla and banana flavored when she was little.
Now I get her strawberry+oatmeal.

I plan on giving LO organic plain yogurt (my favourite is Liberte or BlesWorld) and i'll mix in fruit that i cut up or puree myself. I find that fruit yogurts are too sweet.

If your LO has a milk allergy, they say to hold off until you check with your pediatrician. Yogurt has cultures that break down the lactose and make it easier to digest, which is why your LO can have it before milk. Same as what @T-Mom said. :)

We buy plain organic whole milk yogurt and mix in fruits and purees, and also the YoBaby brand yogurts. I don't have many more organic brands available to me where I live. I have always heard that the reason you can give yogurt before age 1 and not milk is that yogurt is more easily digested since it's already partially broken down in the culturing process.

I wanted to try giving L some whole milk yogurt this week. Is there a particular brand you like to feed your LO? Do you mix in fruit puree to make it tastier?

Also, I'm kinda confused b/c it's my understand that we're not supposed to give them cow milk until 1 year, but it's OK to give things like cheese and yogurt earlier?
