@mynoahbear: my husband is a chef too

We both do our share of the cooking in the house although I prefer to bake and dress up the table....

Like MERRYC said, Hubby is the cook and I am the Baker. Except when we have a big group or a bunch of guest over I tend to do the cooking and layout of all the food and apps etc.. Too much for him. But he is def a better cook IF he can go out and get stuff specifically for what he wants to make. If he needs to make something with what we have in the house than foget it! He has a hard time "making a meal" with whatever we have in the house.

Hubby is the cook, and I'm the baker. But doesn't really have the patience for all the work involved in a big meal. So I'm the sous chef and do most of the chopping prep work, and he does the actual cooking and seasonings. The exception is when I make big batches of freezer food, on my days off.

I'm the better and more efficient cook. So most days we dine in, I cook because we want to eat at a decent time. :P

DH cooks occasionally, and used to cook for me all the time when we were first dating, but that was before we lived together and I didn't realize that he'd spent 4 hours making delicious dinner for our dates :)...

DH CAN cook and is actually really good at it, but he's a perfectionist and takes his time. Whereas, I'm more the let's get it done in 30 minutes type of every day cook. :)

Hubs! He writes a food blog too, he really, really loves cooking. I'm pretty decent too, but since he's always willing to do it, I've become totally dependent on him. seriously now, when I'm fending for myself I make mac & cheese 80% of the time.

Oh man, me. Hands down. When I was sick once I asked my husband to make me a grilled cheese sandwich...he brought me two slices of bread with melted butter on each side and not even close to melted cheese in the middle. Last week, he decided to make dinner for us (a frozen pizza) and caught my oven on fire. I made twice baked potatoes and froze the leftovers..he took one out put in the oven (frozen solid as a rock) at 450 degrees for two hours. I didn't even know our oven had a built in smoke alarm but the thing was shaking and smoking and blinking and beeping. Oh, and he was cooking something once that needed a lid on the stove. Instead of reaching into the cabinet where he got the pan and grabbing the lid he covered it with a pizza pan with a can of soup to hold it down. Oh goodness, I could go on and on about his cooking stories for days.

Mr. Bear and I are equally as good. He's actually surprised me though. I mostly cook unless I have to work nights and sleeping all day. He'll step in and play house husband. =) Even though we are equal, I probably know more about cooking than he does.

My husband is fine to cook and does a good job, but he's not great at meal composition. He doesn't think about how things will go together or having a good mix of starch, protein, and veg. I'm in charge of cooking most nights since he works more, but he's happy to step in if I don't feel up to it or he's got "a vision".

I'm the better baker though. :)

He's just as competent at it when he puts a little effort in, but his "grilled cheese" is toast nuked with some cheese. I cook roughly 6 nights a week, sometimes a 3 hour dish, more often a three minute prep broiled fish/pork/chicken and vegetable x.

I am definitely not a natural in the kitchen, but over the years I have gotten more comfortable. Hubby used to cook most meals, but I have taken over recently. I don't know what I would do without food blogs. It's the way that I first found Bee on her Korean cooking xanga, which led me to weddingbee and now hellobee. :)

And for some reason, his grilled cheeses just taste better than mine. Guess he had lots of practice, all those years as a bachelor.

We're both pretty good cooks, but we have different skills. Hubs is better at meat dishes, and he usually does the grilling. I cook more veggie dishes, so often I'm responsible for creative side dishes when he cooks the main course. Over holidays and long weekends when we have the time we have occasionally tackled some more major cooking projects. I kind of want to try making our own pasta over Christmas this year...
