I'm on DH's plan. On my job's plan I was paying almost twice as much (just for me) as it was for me to be on his.

We are each on our own. We work for the same company and they do not let us share a plan. The baby will go on mine probably

We each have it through our own employers. He can't join mine since he has his own at his job. It is stupid. We are going to look me going on his plan once LO gets here, since it is allowed then due to a life changing event.

@Weagle: No our open enrollment ended a few weeks ago. I'm pretty sure it should count-- we would do it right away-- so I'm just not going to think about it until then. Actually, my mat leave will go to the end of October anyway, I guess (some unpaid but I guess I could stay on his insurance)...Not gonna worry about it, but I do wish I'd thought about the job change vs quit before!

I'm on mine, but LO will go on his once he's born. When it comes time for his next open enrollment we will crunch the numbers and see if it makes sense to put me on DH's insurance. My employer will pay me $150 a month to opt out of their insurance.

@Foodnerd81: I think if it all happens at the same time you both can be added to his... but I'm not sure about that. Can you still be added to his? I think the end of our open enrollment is still a few days away.

@Weagle: Crap. I may not have thought this through well enough. Does having a baby count for me to be added to his, or only the baby?

I was on mine, but am going on my husband's during open enrollment. He used to have HMO and I have PPO but I made him switch to a PPO before LO was born and he got the family plan so it won't cost anything extra for me to be added. A family plan at my job is an additional $500.

@Foodnerd81: Losing a job counts, but quitting doesn't unless you're going to a new job...which I didn't. At least on our insurance. I quit the month I got pregnant, so having LO wouldn't have helped us out until much later :(

DH and I work at the same company, but we're on two different plans, because it's only $13/paycheck for a single person and around $243 per paycheck for You + children. If we go in as a family, it goes up to $275/paycheck.

We are each on our own for now. Last year it was cheaper for me to be on his, so we did that and I declined mine, but this year it worked out cheaper to stay on our own. I'll go on his after I have the babe and am a SAHM.

@Weagle: One of you changing jobs, or having a child, counts as a life changing experience so you can get around the open enrollment. So I'll be able to go on his since I'll quit my job.

My husband's. We continue to be covered for free under the NFL insurance plan for five years after his last active season. It's going to be a sad day for the Moose family when we start having to pay for health insurance again.

My own. It costs nothing for me to be on my plan, but it would cost us triple what DH is already paying to add him to my plan. So we have our own plans and LO will be covered under DH's -- it's half the cost of adding him to my plan.

I am on my DHs. His was covered at 100% by his employer, and I would have had a monthly premium. His coverage is at 100% for darn near everything (note: we are Canadian, so I am talking about drugs, massage, etc), while mine only had 80% coverage for drugs, prescription needed for massage, etc.

For myself I use coverage through my employer because I get no credit for declining coverage and adding me to DH's plan would be more expensive than what I pay for my single-person coverage through my employer.

LO is on DH's plan because it was cheaper to add her to his plan, and because he has a better plan that I do.

DH's. Being a SAHM doesn't provide insurance :) Even when I was working I was on DH's. We would have had the same insurance, but I knew I would quit before LO was born. We wanted to make sure that we wouldn't have to wait until open season to get on his plan.
