Yikes...so sorry you have to deal with that. Stories like that make me glad that MIL lives on a different continent, ha!

Here's to hoping that these two weeks pass quickly!

Hopefully she falls asleep soon then feels so embarrassed she behaves herself until she leaves. Or better yet, she leaves early and gets you that spa day!

Oh boy. The bottle of wine would have pissed me off royally. The rest of the things would have just annoyed me and gotten under my skin. Sounds like things my mom would do (other than the wine).

Wow. You are amazing for putting up with all this. I have no advice, just hoping things get better or that time suddenly speeds up.

I need to rant...

My MIL is in town for 2 weeks. Thankfully she's not staying with us the whole time, but she's been here for the past 2 days. She loves to use a passive aggressive way of telling me how to do things with LO. "She'd probably go to bed faster if you just went up and nursed her a few minutes." Yeah, too bad we're trying to break her of that habit, but MIL was hungry and was tired of waiting for DH to get LO down so we could eat dinner.

This afternoon she offered to hold LO til she fell asleep for a nap. Thirty minutes later I find them playing in the nursery. MIL said, "oh she didn't want to nap, she wanted to play!" So LO totally missed her nap, which made her overtired and probably played into her not going down to sleep tonight.

Then, for dinner, she helped herself to a bottle of wine out of our wine fridge without asking. It was a nice bottle that my parents had bought us and we were saving. She's drank probably half of it and right now is pretty tipsy and driving me crazy! She likes to tell stories of how she kept DH in a basket an tried to hide him under the table at a bar when he was a baby. Or how she only worked part time so she could nurse and why can't I just do that?

She thinks we're too uptight with LO. What she doesn't understand is that having LO on a routine makes our lives much easier.

DH and I have a nickname for LO that we've called her since I was preggers. To me, it's just OUR nickname. But MIL uses it constantly and it drives me crazy. And she's convinced that LO is on the verge of talking, so she keeps repeating the same words over and over. She's 4 months old....I'm pretty sure she's not gonna be spouting out words any time soon.

Ugh. Why do MILs have to be sooo difficult?

(Phew, that felt good to get off my chest!)
